3/4 or 1/2 socket extensions work great as vise handles. HF extension might work.

Did you paint it purple? This one originally comes in red

    Polish vise?

It wouldn't work. You'd still need clearance for the handle bar.

Andy, indeed! My apologies for the remark then, and thanks for posting more great pictures. Aussies make some really nice tools. I've got a small Sidchrome socket set that are impossible to break

Andy, that is one really impressive vise. But... <STRIKE>the way you mounted it defeats the purpose of the offset ;) It should be mounted closer to the edge to allow the vise hold in it long objects hanging down without obstruction. That's the whole idea behind offset vices.</STRIKE> Scrap...

Sweet tools, but... the handles would be better left without painting, as they will scratch and chip as soon as you use the vices. Don't you think?

Benji, I know they are ****. And I feel somewhat guilty about posting it in this magnificent thread dedicated to real beauties with a character and a soul. However, it's good too to see it all - which makes the real vises shine even more in comparison.

Hi Stew, since you made the effort of going to the store to take a picture, I took picture of the English side of my old box for comparison. The graphics on the box changed over the years but only slightly. The fact that this vise is still sold and still guaranteed forever says, it can't be too...

Hey PCO6, you brought me back some good old memories. On a trip to Toronto back in 1994 I picked up a 4-inch Mastercraft from Canadian Tire on sale for 10 dollars Canadian, which was then like $6 American. I just couldn't resist that price. The shape and color (colour?) say, it's a wannabe...

Beautiful Morgan vise although it's missing jaws. Complete with jaw inserts should look like this

Here is my newest little vintage 3". Unknown origin but looks solidly made. I painted it and replaced the missing guiding rod. It works great after the fix, with no play on the jaws whatsoever. Before (already painted it but with still missing rod) & after - with a new 7/16" rod

Here is what $10 bought me last night off Craigslist. Really great shape and smooth operation. 4" jaws. I plan to put lipstick on this one.

I'd screw tight longer bolts into the holes, cut them off and grind flat, then touch with a drop of paint each. Nonetheless, with those screws or without, really great vise and the price was right.

Amazing score. Looking at the pictures of the ruined parts of Detroit, I always imagine there must be some great vises abandoned. Would you say it is possible? Ruins of Detroit

Hand vises come especially *handy* when you need to hold tight a small item to a grinding or sanding wheel, or for soldering. Wherever a small part needs strong grip, or lots of heat, or both - hand vises are better than fingers and gentler than visegrips. Mine looks like this.

Very nice little precision tools. I like the flat work area on the top of the black one.
