    epoxy problems

No, I'm not saying that. I'm just suggesting it's a pain in the *** to prep these floors. I hope someone with more experience offers their expertise in the next few hours. I had read so many threads here my head was spinning by the time I just said enuf, I'm coating my floor. I do remember...

    epoxy problems

I noticed after my first attempt at acid etching, scrubbing and flushing, the dried floor still had a chalky residue in some spots, especially around the perimeter. So I took another pass with stronger acid and a stiffer brush and the resulting dried floor was like 100 grit sandpaper - no...

    Epoxy Coat Question

Clear definitely makes a difference over flakes as SUPERCOAT mentioned. The following photos were taken before/after my Epoxy-Coat clear coat. Disclaimer: the after photo was a taken a bit earlier in the afternoon so more sunshine is coming through. But I noticed a definite improvement with...

Does anyone wash their cars inside??

I picked up this curtain wire system from IKEA http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60075295 and I'm planning to hang plastic shower curtains to keep my slatwall from getting soaked. My garage is in MN. I have a drain and hot/cold water.

    Doing it by yourself...

Next floor I do I'm going to divide my Part A's and B's into separate small containers BEFORE I start. I don't trust the stick in the bucket measuring method.

    Doing it by yourself...

I'd say 15-20 minutes. It was easy to overlap an inch or two. The epoxy blended fine for me but again, I think I had more working time due to the low temp. If you look at the photos of my project you can see I put a pretty heavy flake down so that would have hid most overlap irregularities...

    Doing it by yourself...

Ahhh, keyword being "by myself." I get it now. I had a helper as I anticipated the product was going to harden in 15 minutes, but with the temp in the low 50s we had way more time than that so I could have done it myself if I had to. Christine and a couple others suggested doing 1 section...

    Doing it by yourself...

I recommend reading, reading and more reading on this board. I used the ADVANCED SEARCH/SEARCH ONLY IN TITLE feature to limit the threads to just those products I was interested in. Once you've narrowed your choices, the manufacturer's Web sites should have detailed instructions. Of course...

price of epoxy coat at lowes

I'm in the same boat as Jeremy W, but I understood the value compared with arguably lesser or greater quality products available for purchase. I was grateful for the "Garage Journal free shipping special" Epoxy-Coat gave me. But still, it's always a little painful to buy something that goes...

Epoxy-Coat project photos, notes and tips

Thanks! Epoxy-Coat said the clear comes with some UV Protection which will work for a couple of years. I don't leave my garage doors open too much and they face North so maybe I'll be OK.

    Where to buy spike shoes?

Falling in flake-covered epoxy would be the modern day version of tar and feathered.

price of epoxy coat at lowes

I suppose that could the the Rustoleum Professional epoxy coating kit? Lowes.com says they no longer sell that kit. I could see Lowe's purchasing Epoxy-Coat at a huge discount for the volume distribution they have, but passing along such a big discount to the consumer seems unlikely unless...

Epoxy being installed, need opinion on something

I'm brand new to this so wait for the expert's opinion. But I would sure want to prove the theory and have him scrape a few more locations close to the edges where he didn't grind and in some inconspicuous spot in the middle where it *was* ground. If there's a dramatic difference between the...

Epoxy being installed, need opinion on something

Maybe he wasn't diligent enough with the acid wash and scrub near the edges? I had to redo some edge areas after I found residue when I did the finger test.

Ha! I actually build those shoes for my brother's project. Of course, we went full toe for him.
