Figured it out. The last battery leaked and/or had a failure of some sort. Left some crusties inside the light tube making it hard to get it out. With some really heavy shaking I was able to use the other 2 D cell batteries as a battering ram to get out the exploded battery. Scraped out the tube...

Mine are about 40 inches off the ground, which gives me a few inches of clearance off of my 36 inch high tool boxes that I use as a workbench. Personally in a garage I would say most if not all of the outlets should be between 36 and 50 inches, so you dont have to bend over to plug things in...

This. The wood is recessed lower than 3 if the edges, so if you got 1 slab you'd have to make some accurate cuts to get around the side lips, or flatten them, which would be messy and still need to be cut to be flush with the bottom.... Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
