    Should I Be Concerned?

Two weeks ago, I started replacing a bunch of electrical outlets on our main floor. Primary reason was to install TR outlets, because I hate the plastic baby covers that my wife insisted we needed. Upon pulling out the old outlets, I noticed that my 60's built house had what I believe may be...

Here's the closest I have to an assembled machine. Obviously, it's very unassembled.

    DIY Service Upgrade - Sorta

The roofer is a friend (he runs a professional licensed and insured company), and his rates are far below what others charge. He does top quality work. My house was originally a 2 story with a 1 story garage on the side. Then they added on a 1 story addition to the back. Then they decided to...

28x40 garage wall falls who to blame???

While I can appreciate your frustration and desire for the entire ordeal to be over, my concern would be how much money you're out. I'm sure you've calculated how much the failed garage has/will cost you. If it was me, I would sue for that amount + lawyer fees. No more, no less. Not because...

A little reorganisation of my home garage

Don't most extinguishers come with a mounting bracket? I know all of mine have. I'd be afraid that I'd start putting stuff on the tiny shelf above the extinguisher. Any flat surface I leave empty will get filled pretty quick.

    Fixing Belt Sander

Sears is trying other suppliers for the part. Doesn't look good. I have it disassembled right now, since I was expecting the part weeks ago. I can look at taking a pic or two later.

    DIY Service Upgrade - Sorta

My house is currently fed by a 100 amp pushmatic box. The house is roughly 2000sqf house. I've got an electric stove, dryer, and AC. I'm looking to upgrade to a 200 amp box. I had 2 electricians give me quotes of $2250 and $2290 (Still waiting for the third electrician's quote). I was...

I'd still can the guy. There are good GCs, and then there are bad GC. This one seems to be the later.

******. After trying from a few different vendors, looks like the part may be no longer available. Jerks. Now, if only I could find a cheap welder on CL

It's 2 AM ... do you know where your garage door is?

The opener I just installed for my Grandma has a feature that it will automatically close the door after a set time period. It's helpful if the issue is forgetting to close it. If you don't want to replace the opener, you can get a third party tool like the Garage Butler to do it for you. The...

    side job rate

As long as you're upfront with what you charge, I can't see it being a problem what you charge. People will either hire you or not. That's their decision. When I do side work, I'd rather over charge per hour and under report how many hours it took than do the opposite. I guess I figure...

    Window Replacement

Hmm. I'll have to do some research into removing vinyl siding. I have a couple spare pieces that the previous owner left in the garage rafters, but I certainly don't want to break anything.

    Window Replacement

I'm in the process of remodeling my garage. As part of that, I'm down to studs on all of the exterior walls. I'm planning on covering the wall up with OSB once I have the electrical and insulation installed. One of the walls has two old 3'x3' aluminum windows. I was originally planning on...

    plumbing to unheated, detached garage?

I'm assuming you will do this already, but make sure you use a hose that's rated for drinking water. Let it flush out for a bit before drinking/brewing with the water any ways. I might boil the water regardless for brewing.

    MaxJax Group Buy

If you buy the lift from Costco, can you avoid the shipping costs? I know you have tax to deal with, but that would just about equal the shipping costs for me from the GB. Just something to think about.

    Lincoln Electric Welders

I see that your warranty was for the $500-$999 range, yet you paid under $500. I'm not sure the cost difference, but it looks like you overpaid. :-P
