    Broke My Drive Shaft

I think the next question should be why did the driveshaft break? Drive shafts don't break from normal usage unless they are defective or their maintainence is bad

What's Wrong With My Compressor Setup?

The purpose of the regulator at the tank is to give you a steady air pressure in your piping and to reduce the pressure surge from affecting your unregulated tools as the pressure switch turns on the comp and the pressure builds. Without this regulator, every point of use would have to have a...

What's Wrong With My Compressor Setup?

You need ONE regulator at the pump. Set it at 100 -125# or so. Cances are that there is already one there from the factory. Then if you have a need for a point of use regulator, such as for a spray gun or beadblast cabinent, then instal one whereever you hook your hose up. BTW, manufacturers...

    Craftsman Warranty Going Away?

Chraftsman tools have been dropping in quality for years. Probably got to the point where they could not sell a tool and honor a warranty both. Ten years ago when I went in with several broken ratchets they would not replace them rather said that if I left them they would TRY to put a "kit" in...

Wanna Get Luck In My Garage

However you do it, do it now. In a few years the creeper may not be heavy enough for both of you. Funny how after marriage women tend to get bigger and bigger

    Metal Cabinets And Drywall Lifts!

How about a regular old office storage cabinent? I need three or four in my shop but am having a hard time finding them used. $200-300 new and up should not hurt the budget too too bad. You could always paint them any color you want, too

What's Wrong With My Compressor Setup?

That short 3/8" hose should be fine. You consider that the air going theough the hose is at 175#. The regulator is the problem. Bypass it to see if there is a change. Rig up a pressure gauge just upstream of the regulator and watch for a DP

What's Wrong With My Compressor Setup?

    Gladiator Cabinets?

This is more like what I like in a shop. Got them from a lab I had to clean out at LSU. I was told to scrap them. Had 40' or so, all with stainless steel tops, three lab sinks. Wish I had kept them all, now. They still need a fresh coat of paint

    Gladiator Cabinets?

Man they look cheep to me. A real shop ought to have real cabinents instead of aluminum and plastic. At least real wood, not particleboard.

    Good Parts Washer

I've used a 20 gallon washer from HF for about 8 years now without a single problem. What's supposed to be wrong with HF washers?

Buying drill bit sets by brand

I've used the Chronatron bits before. Man they worked fantastic for me. They went through 1/2" stainless like regular bits go through wood! Don't know what the difference is but they were eons better than the brand new other bits in the shop. Wish I could afford to buy my own

Poll: What kind of floor do you have?

That wood floor just looks so, er, period. It just fits with the rod and bike so well I'm wanting to put wood on top of my cement now!

    Need help refilling bottle jack

Usually there is a rubber plug or a screw 3/4 the way up the side. With the jack collapsed, remove this plug and add oil through the hole until it overflows, then reinstall the plug or screw. BTW, this must be done with the jack collapsed or you will over fill it

    Air line sizing

Around here Code requires that gas lines be black iron pipe because of the possibility of the zinc flaking off inside

    Air line sizing

I work at a research facility that has perhaps 1000 feet of galvanized air piping. We are constantly having instrument problems with zinc and rust flaking off the inside of the pipe and ending up in orrifices in our instrumentation. Over time, a quarter of the screwed joints have devenoped...
