    Rajah crimpers

This is what I've been using for many years. A Belden 7504 crimper. It makes making spark plug wires a breeze. I don't think it's being made anymore but they show up on eBay. Another option is a Dynatek 7-way crimper, which is a close copy of the Belden.

Help with "vintage" of Campbell Hausfeld compressor

I have a Sears Craftsman compressor I bought in 1972. It is actually a CH with a 2hp 240v motor and all cast iron compressor. It has been running now for over 40 years, and the only thing I've done to it is change the oil in the compressor and occasionally clean the intake filter. I don't...

Cool tool I found at the antique store

They are laboratory tongs. The turned down tips mean they are crucible tongs. They're also used for flasks and beakers.

Harbor Freight 13 drawer tool boxes $271.99

When comparing the Husky and the HF, consider this: 52" Husky - capacity 1000 lbs. 44" HF - capacity 2633 lbs. That says a lot.

That seems to have solved the problem. Thanks

    Kobalt small air compressor?

Maybe I'm old and set in my ways, but I just don't like oil-free compressors. Every one I've seen is noisy, and under heavy use they tend to self-destruct. For about the same money you can buy a portable oil lubed compressor that will probably last forever. One suggestion would be that...

I so wish I had the money of this..

Great tool if you have a lot of patience, a lot of time, and not much space. About 1975 I decided I just HAD to have one. The honeymoon didn't last too long. The table saw *****, way too much money for a disc sander, and I don't need a horizontal boring machine. But the drill press...

    What are these for?

I believe they're generally referred to as precision wrenches. That pretty much just means they're wrenches for little stuff.

    North Star 2 stage ?

I would be very surprised if the North Star is U.S. made. Much of what Northern Tool sells is the same stuff you get at Harbor Freight with a different brand on it. If you need parts 10 years from now will they be available? Maybe, maybe not. Quincy is top quality and U.S. made. They have...

Anyone have good luck with HF Socket Trays?

I have several sets for my SAE sockets and I use Hansen for my metric sockets. I like the HF better. The HF ones I've had for quite a number of years and they are red, so I don't know if they are the same as the ones they are selling now.

    Snap-On Toolboxes?

Please post a photo of that. I'm not in the habit of standing in my tool boxes, Snap-On or any others. And I've NEVER put 250# of tools in a single drawer.

    Snap-On Toolboxes?

I have Snap-On, Craftsman, U.S. General, and a couple of boxes that have no name on them. I bought my first Snap-On in 1971. It was a used box that the dealer had taken in trade on a new box, so I don't have a clue how old it is today, but probably pushing 50 years, maybe more. It's still as...

Why am I being logged off?

No, but if you can tell me where to find it, I will. I've scoured both the Forum and Garage Journal home pages, the login page, my profile page, and my options page and can find no such box. I even tried a different browser, in case mine is rendering pages differently, and same result. Where...

Why am I being logged off?

Why am I constantly being logged off? It's happened to me twice tonight. I'll be reading a thread and when I finish and go to another thread, suddenly I am no longer logged in. Not only is it very annoying, but once I log back in all of the threads with new posts that had been highlighted are...

    Sears' 2009 Holiday Tool Catalog!!

A few years ago Sears quit sending me their sale fliers. When I inquired about it they said I wasn't spending enough money with them. Then a little further down the road they cancelled my Sears credit card for the same reason. I went into the store to buy some tools and they told me my credit...

    Slowing down a drill press

If the motor is still turning at the same speed, but the spindle is turning slower, it will increase the power available at the bit. It's the same as dropping to a lower gear in your car. If the motor is a DC, speed can be varied with the amount of voltage to the armature. If it is an AC...

Knipex, not a "real" lifetime warranty

Stanley owns the name. Beyond that there is no connection with the old Blackhawk tools. I once sent Stanley/Blackhawk an email asking if I could buy parts for these ratchets. It was a longshot, but I figured it was worth asking. They didn't even give me the courtesy of a reply. After what...

Knipex, not a "real" lifetime warranty

Those are my sentiments exactly. If I wear out a quality tool, it will have had a lot of use and I figure I've gotten what I paid for. I wouldn't even consider asking the company to replace it under warranty, and would be embarrased to do so. I have two old Blackhawk 1/2" ratchets that...
