From my understanding milwaukee put this out with construction in mind not auto work and the d ring is there to tie it off to a man lift or elivated work platform.

Currently a maintenance mechanic at a tubing mill and in two weeks I start my new job as a engineering technician at I wire belt manufacturing facility.

Gearwrench brand as a whole is extremely good as far as import tools go. I personally don't like the cross force ones you are talking about. My preference is that reversable ones whith the cap stop.
