Astro Pneumatic vs. VIM Chrome Sockets

I have the Astro set, and they are excellent. Can’t see how the VIM are worth the premium. Might supplement with the CTA 18mm and 19mm extra deep one day, but have not needed them.

    Best value sockets?

That set has sold in the $80 - $100 range at times. Good value with a lot of sockets, even at full price.

    Evercraft Gone from Napa Website

Most of the new style Carlyle sockets at my local NAPA were labeled as made in Taiwan.

1/2” and 3/8” drive sockets appear to be identical, except for the stamping/engraving. I own some of both brands.

Screwdrivers and most pliers are made in France. Round head ratchets are made in Italy. Wrenches, pear head ratchets, sockets are Taiwan.

Many of the new direct injected turbo engines require plug replacement every 40k miles.

Wrench sets besides combination to add to the box

The two for an MGB that I can think of are: 1. oil cooler hose connection at block (depends on year, some didn't have the oil cooler) 2. clutch metal line to clutch slave cylinder rubber hose (this one is actually Whitworth, but one of the SAE sizes usually works).

Wrench sets besides combination to add to the box

They sell pretty good tools, mostly made in Taiwan. Their bit sockets (hex, torx, triple square), standard combo wrenches, and reversible ratcheting combo wrenches are all good tools that I have experience using.

    Tekton prototype small engine kit

any chance its related to April 1? Their email stated that broken tools could not be replaced under warranty, which I thought was odd for Tekton. There are no new tools in the set, just the packaging is unique.

1/4" socket drive metric hex set

Capri Tools hex sockets are pretty good, especially for the money. They also sell 1/4" drive 6mm hex bit socket in standard and long lengths, so Capri would get my vote. I have a large set of the Carlyle bit sockets (bought on deep sale), and they appear to be very similar to the Capri in...

    Good Torx screwdrivers? (not bits)

Do they use the sizes smaller than T10 on an Edelbrock? I am not certain that they do. I think you’ll ok with the six piece PB set.

    Good Torx screwdrivers? (not bits)

Unless you need the smaller sizes in the 10 piece set, the 6 is probably adequate.

    Show off your.... Carlyle Tools!!!

CWS1212 (12 piece SAE stubby wrench set) shows up as $164 with none in stock at several stores nearby. I'm no wrench expert, but that seems a bit high considering the ICON 10 piece set is $40. I can't imagine NAPA moved very many of these sets at full price.

Yes, and Proto as well. Armstrong also rebranded them when they were active.

Is EBay completely worthless or does it just seem that way to me

Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback to buyers, that is the difference. They can and do leave feedback now. If the buyer leaves them negative feedback, the seller can't "hit back" with negative feedback that would hurt the buyer's feedback rating.

Bondhus, a bit of a disappointment

I recently bought a Proto 14mm combo wrench (full polish, J1214M-T500) from Zoro/Grainger that has an obvious slight bow to the beam. Did not cross my mind to exchange it as it was needed for a job. Bought a set of Wright SAE satin a few years ago, and the chrome was peeling on the open end of...
