Chop saw is a great suggestion. I bought a 14" chop saw about 6 years ago and that is all I use for raw material. I use the 3" cutoff and angle grinder with a cutoff for different aplications though.

I have bought MANY Gates timing sets from rockauto.com. I don't want to tear something apart multipul times so I do the full deal (belt, water pump, idler & tentioner pulleys). They Gates belt kit's should have no issue lasting a full t-belt interval.
