Wildfire vs Advantage 9000 XLT lift. Why the price difference?

I'm curious if anyone has recently researched and/or purchased a 4-post lift who understands why there's such a large price difference between these two. The specs are similar enough that I'd be surprised if they're not coming out of the same factory but the Wildfire is $6695 and the Advantage...

Seems like a nightmare to pack up an entire garage. When is the last time you moved (your entire tools & garage) ?

Where did you find the help? Pro riggers seem like overkill but I wonder if regular movers understand how to safely move heavy equipment.

Seems like a nightmare to pack up an entire garage. When is the last time you moved (your entire tools & garage) ?

My wood shop and two gun safes are in the basement of my current house and I just bought a new house. I have cellar doors with straight stairs and plan to lay long 2x4s on the stairs and use a winch to slide the equipment up. The problem is even though the winch will do the work I really need...

Cutting clean circles in silicone sheeting

Another idea if you have a 3D printer is to print a simple open faced mold. You can buy 2-part silicones at your local hobby store or from Amazon.

Any feedback on McMaster's "no name" drill bits?

The lack of freight cost when checking out used to bother me, but after many years of ordering from them I've never felt cheated on shipping. Not once. They're truly a class act.

    Oil Drain Pan Suggestions

Most of the open pan suggestions say they drain into an open pan then pour into old jugs for transport. That's a reasonable solution.

    Tap and Die set.

Don't buy sets. They're usually carbon steel instead of HSS and you'll never use most of the sizes. For metric, 4 sizes (M4, 5, 6, & 8) will cover 95% of what you need so buy individual, high quality HSS taps from an industrial supplier like McMaster-Carr.

Dealing with freight deliveries without loading dock.

I live at the end of a dead end cul de sac in a residential neighborhood so even a truck with a lift gate isn't going to appreciate delivering to my house, especially if my neighbors leave their cars parked on the street. Turning around is going to be a major pain in the ****. So I always do...

QuickJack - for those of you wondering

God help anyone who has to deal with their customer service. My order came missing half the parts. Customer service calls go to voice mail and they don't get returned. Emails are ignored. I've been trying for 5 days. Today I finally gave up and disputed the transaction with my credit card...

    Anti fatigue mats recommendations?

My mats are so old I don't remember where they came from but one requirement is that they have bevelled edges. Straight vertical sides are a trip hazard and hard to sweep stuff away from. When you sweep dust and chips up to a mat with straight sides it gets stuck and is a pain in the *** to...

    Grizzly knee mill

I guess I should clarify that like any used mill you still need to verify that it isn't worn out. One of the shops I use regularly has a knee mill in the corner they use exclusively for milling ceramic. I wouldn't want to buy a machine that had spent it's life with the ways covered in hard...

    Grizzly knee mill

Normally I'd tell people to buy a solid old Bridgeport, but at that price I'd suggest buying it.

Need help with industrial hardware organizing ideas

I design custom robotic equipment and all the shops that build my machines have bin racks similar to your third picture but on casters. A couple shops have them double sided so there are bins on both sides. This is how they store fasteners, dowels, pneumatic fittings, etc, so they can roll...

    Motorcycle Lifts

I have a Harbor Freight lift and it works fine after replacing the wheel chock with something nicer. Having said that, it takes up a lot of room. When I was parking my truck in the garage I could just park over top of the lowered lift. Now that my truck lives outside and I need to park my car...

Well I just bought the HF floor blasting cabinet.....

Where do they keep the blasting media? I looked all over and asked a couple employees but came up empty.

Advice on possible purchase of a mill/drill locally

By a happy coincidence, the corner I stuck it in is near the garage's side door so if I had a really long piece I could have it overhang and stick out the door. Worst comes to worst, the mill is relatively easy to move. I wouldn't think twice about picking it up with the engine hoist, moving...

Advice on possible purchase of a mill/drill locally

The narrow back makes it a good candidate for putting in a corner. My metalworking is kind of tight. I sketched an outline of all the tools, benches, tool chests, etc, in CAD and tried every possible combination, and having the Bridgeport in a corner was the best use of space.

Advice on possible purchase of a mill/drill locally

If you've never used a real mill you'd probably be tickled pink with this thing, but I wouldn't have one unless I were really, really cramped for space. As someone else mentioned, you lose x & y when you raise/lower the head. That's almost inevitable when you switch between collets and a drill...

cost of tools ...it adds up

Add in the cost of filters and oil and even with 3 cars, 6 motorcycles, and an airplane to amortize the cost of tools over, I doubt I could justify doing my own oil changes. I do it because every time I've let someone else (including dealers) they've managed to screw it up.
