The Glacier Garage - Attached Three Car Garage Build - 40 x 28

Block III Ok, the trusses are ordered and should be delivered in the next week or so. It took a while to get some details ironed out like that above garage attic storage I SWORE didn't interest me in one of my first posts. Throw in a weeks vacation with the whole family to the Dominican...

The Glacier Garage - Attached Three Car Garage Build - 40 x 28

I was about to go to sleep on Friday when I got a notice of a post on the thread. It has been a while hasn't it. Honestly there have been a few things slowing me down. First, I'm getting old or at least my body says that. I caught a nasty strep throat that had me out of work for almost a...

Foundation Costs I promised I'd post the costs of each phase of construction so here is the foundation total so far. Clearly there is still a major chunk unaccounted for because no slab has been poured. Before I embarked on doing the foundation I came up with some preliminary cost...

Nice, I was a decade behind you at tech but my brother did his time at state college PA.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Blue Bomber's Garages

Nice job on the lift install, I've been there before putting a baseplate 2 post lift up with my brother. We had to rock paper scissor to see whose ride was the guinea pig. Was that a virginia tech hat I saw in one of your pictures?

Grout II Finally the end of the foundation was in sight so I tried my best get some momentum going and finish it. My wife had other plans which included us going for a whole weekend to visit friends at Penn State :wtf:. It all worked out anyways since the heat index was almost 100 both days...

The Glacier Garage - Attached Three Car Garage Build - 40 x 28

It has been a slow process and a lot of work but it’s great to see the garage outline coming up from the ground. Really excited to switch to framing. I definitely would rather be laying block than digging trenches. When it’s as hot as it’s supposed to be this weekend I like spending the days...

Block IV Its been a month since I've checked in with this thread but don't worry, it will not go dark until the garage is finished. In my last large update I had put up the 4 corner leads for the garage, (~30 block) so now it's time to fill up all the empty space between them (~230 block). I...

24x43 attached with rooftop deck build

Very Nice!! I had a similar idea at my last house but knew I wouldn't be there long enough to recoup it financially. Cool to see something similar built.

Marshaltown seems to be what both the big box stores carry. That one was $15 bucks and the next one up was $40 so I took the gamble and lost. The expensive one is forged from 1 piece vs having the blade welded on.

Any progress towards the slab and driveway raise?

Not a big update but its been two weeks and I don't want the thread to go silent for too long. I'm currently about half way through with the final 3 course of block. I also ended up being a self-inflicted victim of the "Buy Nice or Buy Twice" adage. :twak:

Any luck with getting the garage slab pictures uploaded? When does framing begin?

Block III Winter, snow, a month never above freezing, Spring, rain, more rain, and more snow all came and went. There were actually some nice weekends I could have started earlier but out of town trips and visitors interfered and kept pushing me back. The glacier is however officially moving...

    2-car to 4-car add-on

Looks like your off to a good start. You said in your original post that you needed 2 variances for the project, was the second curb cut one of them? I keep seeing more posts where people say their township/city prohibits more than one driveway.

Still sitting in a holding pattern due to the weather. March and April so far have been complete no-go since nighttime temps have been below freezing (ruins mortar) and the days where it warmed up inches of rain fell. On a positive note I got SUPER lucky and scored practice round tickets to...

The Glacier Garage - Attached Three Car Garage Build - 40 x 28

I'm going to try and start taking a photo from a consistent location as I go along as a pseudo time lapse. I cut down a nice tree before starting the project because it was leaning towards where the garage was going to be built and dropped berries. It was a shame because it was a fantastic...

The Glacier Garage - Attached Three Car Garage Build - 40 x 28

Grouting I The weather was alright but below freezing temperatures were showing up in the 10 day forecast so I called to see if I could get a concrete truck in before that happened. Luckily they had an opening in two days so my friend and I worked on getting the block cut and rebar ready for...

The Glacier Garage - Attached Three Car Garage Build - 40 x 28

Yeah its sitting up on a hill, brick color is close and the proportions look pretty similar for building width and height as well as the center reverse gable bump out. Those eyebrow gables over the windows are "interesting" and so is the tiny window in the center, must be a bathroom. It was a...
