Air hose reels: HF 50' or Flexzilla 50'?

I'm beating myself up here. I finally decided on getting a 3/8" 50' air hose on a reel. My budget is $75-100 so no Cox or Reelcraft. Sorry. I've narrowed it down to HF or Flexzilla. I really like the Flexzilla hose, but the reel is one of the enclosed plastic ones. I'm worried about it...

1/2" air hose with 1/4" fittings a waste?

I like the discussion! But I think a shorter run of 3/8" hose with 1/4" fittings will be adequate. Now, Flexzilla or Goodyear?

1/2" air hose with 1/4" fittings a waste?

Thank you for your insights, sberry and others. As 75% of my uses are not dependent on massive flow (airing tires and blowing off things with the blowgun) I think I will shoot for a 50 foot, 3/8" hose. If I decide that I need to air things up in the driveway, I might get an additional 25'...

1/2" air hose with 1/4" fittings a waste?

Hmm, I'm shifting back to 3/8 and high flow fittings again. FWIW, I'm currently running the Earthquake on a 30' 3/8" with normal industrial fittings and it seems to work well enough. Maybe the V style fittings will make up for the longer hose.

1/2" air hose with 1/4" fittings a waste?

Wow, great feedback everyone. Thanks! I have a small 2-car garage and a dinky 15 gallon compressor with 1/4 outlets from the tank. There are times when I would like to pull the hose out into the driveway to air up tires, but that capability may not be worth the other sacrifices needed to get...

1/2" air hose with 1/4" fittings a waste?

I am wanting to get a 50 or maybe 100 foot hose on an auto-retract reel, and the consensus here seems to be that for that length you need a 1/2" hose. The problem I have is that all of my stuff (from the compressor to the tools) are all 1/4" NPT. I really don't want to fool with getting about a...

    Compressor after cooler

Hi everyone. I am wanting to add an aftercooler to a 5 gallon man-portable compressor. I know this is about 55 gallons less than what most of you have. I was looking at this PS oil cooler as it's small and cheap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0049ESKAU/ I know these are not designed for...

    Cheap/easy compressor aftercooler?

I've read that one many times. A lot of the posts deal with larger compressors though, I think my application will be the only one with a handle! True, I should not have been so curt. I was thinking about a peltier element, but that is probably more trouble than it is worth. I just want to...

    Cheap/easy compressor aftercooler?

Cool! I have been trying to decide to either collect it in the tank and drain it, or use an additional coalescing filter. Space is at a premium as I want to be able to carry this unit around if I have to.

    Cheap/easy compressor aftercooler?

Alright, I'm leaning towards the transmission cooler, something like the below: Along with a 120v 120mm fan that is powered from the compressor pressure switch. What I can't decide on is if I should get a standalone filter or just let the water go into the tank and drain the tank. I'm...

    Cheap/easy compressor aftercooler?

Something like that would be nice, but there's no way I could fit it on a 5 gallon compressor. I've been eyeing this. Their website states they are tested to 300 PSI. Not sure how I'd get NPT fittings on it though. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C39C86/ So trying to remove moisture from the air...

    Cheap/easy compressor aftercooler?

Finned tubing might work well. I'd like to rig up an AC condenser, but that would ruin the portability of it. Would something like the transfer pipe of a two stage compressor make sense on a little unit like mine? Currently the hose going from the compressor to the tank is about 4 inches so...

    Cheap/easy compressor aftercooler?

I have a 5 gallon craftsman air compressor that I found on the side of the road. It is a portable unit with a carry handle and rubber feet. Where I live it's super humid, as in my blow gun blows visible mist. I want to filter some of this water before it gets into the tank, but apparently the...

HF 20 Gallon Parts Washer Mods

Good points. Something like a bucket filled with diesel might actually work better for me. I want something I can toss some small metal parts (car parts) in and come back in a few days and have them be spotless.

HF 20 Gallon Parts Washer Mods

I'm thinking about getting one of these. (if they ever go on sale) Has anyone tried adding a heater to one? I'm thinking of the silicone adhesive ones or maybe the recirculating tank style for diesel engines. I'm hoping hot water will do as well as cold solvent. I don't foresee needing a...
