How to remove striped recessed Torx bolt without damaging ratchet

If you drill try a left handed drill bit in the counter clockwise direction. You might get lucky if it catches and winds out the screw.

Any Tamarack HV3400 whole house fan users?

I installed one of these in my house 2 decades ago and it is still going strong. Couldn't be happier. The remote receiver crapped out 4 or 5 years ago and the part was still available from Tamarack. I thought it was overpriced so I got up into the attic and found the part number. It was...

Challenger CL4P9S reservoir vent cap part # and/or size

I just bought this awesome lift but it was missing the reservoir vent cap. Apparently, the seller's 5-year-old absconded with it. Anyone know what the part # or size of the cap is. It's a Bucher Hydraulics power unit. I couldn't find a part number. It looks like it measures out at M30 X...

    1964 Skylark Restoration-Pitted Metal

So let's say one was sufficiently dissuaded from blasting and chemicals. And let's say time and labor weren't really a major concern. What would be the next option? Good old fashioned sanding down to bare metal? Orbital where you can and by hand elsewhere? Pros/cons? What would be the...

    Steam removal of ice dam

I had a particularly nasty ice dam once and solved it by taking my home steamer (mcCulloch mc1275) and clamping a 20' length of 1/2 heater hose to the outlet leaving the other end open. You start the steam, set the hose on the ice dam and let gravity do the rest. Worked like a champ and the...
