    Messing with my Unisaw

My point was, If the dust collector is pulling say 400 cfm of air/sawdust out of the box that is your tablesaw base, and you restrict the airflow into the box to near 0 cfm, your dust collector becomes terribly inefficient. Dust collectors move air, coincidentally sawdust moves along with the...

    Messing with my Unisaw

Nice job on the motor enclosure box, you might want to leave a vent hole somewhere for the dust collector to draw a bit of air from, you'll need some air volume to keep the sawdust moving, humorously, you might create enough negative pressure to draw your board down tight to the saw table.

    How tall is your workbench

My woodworking bench is 35 in. (I was 5'9") which conveniently pretty much lines up with my tablesaw. I prefer planing and sanding at this height. My Rousseau cabinets with top are 42 in. including the top, which I find too tall to work at, however my welding bench is at 34 in. which puts the...

What did you do “IN” your wood shop today?

Nothing but woodworking/turning in my shop, I have an unheated single car garage up next my house for metalwork. There's way too much combustable stuff in the woodshop to be welding etc. in there.

    Mechanical chalk pencil?

fromGoogley AI Nicpro and Pica are both popular brands of mechanical carpenter pencils, but Pica (especially the Pica-Dry) is often seen as the premium German-made option known for superior holster retention, durability, and versatility on various surfaces, while Nicpro is a more...

    Mechanical chalk pencil?

I have a NICPRO pencil, with yellow refills, it is quite visible on walnut and ebony and I can get a fairly fine line by using the attached lead profiler...

    Pex plumbing connections

I used upinor expansion tool (hand)(borrowed) when I renovated my house, and for the floor heat in both shops I had a hand in, simple and never a leak. Buddy did "his" bathroom in Home Depot pex and crimp rings, dunno what brand, but some joints leaked, just cut off rings and re-crimped. Been on...

    compass rose (first attempt)

Well, I managed to mess it up, not terrible, but not as precise as I prefer. Gotta give some thought to a micro-adjustable miter jig or a better method of fine tuning each piece. 16 times 1/10 of a degree adds up. And I need to sharpen some table saw blades!

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I would absolutely love to have one of those Oneway lathes pictured above, however, have a big old General 260 lathe (mechanical variable speed) with an 8 ft bed. No thread, just mucking about with it. Have turned a few 20 inch pieces, and a few retirement gifts, Christmas ornaments, spatulas...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I’ve had the original Oneway chuck and have now had the stronghold chuck for more than 15 yrs, never been disappointed in the holding ability, and it doesn’t hurt that the company is local, about an hour away.

    Dust collection setups !!

I'm a little late to this part of the conversation, however, this sounds like what you're talking about doing and its working well enough for my shop application.

    Outfitting a new Race Shop

I have a pair of Rousseau cabinets in my shop, I acquired them well used, they are pretty incredible. Another thought, you can adjust (raise) the height of your lower cabinets to suit

Where can I get a 'true' kink free garden hose?

Worked for a safety/breathing air supply company for many years, some jobs have required as much as 40,000 ft of air hose in 50 and 100 ft sections. I learned how to coil hose! I use the same over/under method described in the video above, for my garden hoses, air hoses, electrical cords and...

    compass rose (first attempt)

I've spent a bit of time fitting on the second try, so I'm not gonna call it practice. I think it will end up as a serving tray or cheese board for a Christmas present. I'm going to the wood supplier this week to find some other woods to colour the next one up a bit. Maple and walnut are a bit...

School me on cutting board construction

Jollygreen, if you're anywhere close to London there was a place on Sarnia Rd right where it meets Hyde Park, Phillmore Ent. they had quite a selection of cool woods.

    compass rose (first attempt)

Built a couple of jigs last night and cut out the segments for a compass rose, still need a bit of fine tuning before I get into the fancy woods. Planning to incorporate one in the deck of an S.U.P. I'm going to try building this winter, and maybe a Christmas present or two.
