What's going on in my little Garage....

So, I got under the K10 today, to reassess where I am... It has a 350 small block in it... I have no idea what the story is with this motor... ran strong, good oil pressure always. Odo shows 56k, but I assume its at least 1 or maybe 2 times over now. Original owners are long dead I'm told, and...

What's going on in my little Garage....

Thanks Mike! New owner is an older gentleman, who said "Its exactly what he had been looking for". and might be his "Last Vehicle". He paid the asking price without a word of haggling! Time to get back to my stuff now. I need to remember where I was, on the K10 pickup! Gotta build a mounting...

What's going on in my little Garage....

Thanks! I tried to explain to the wife that the 5.9 is now a collector piece… She will get it after I’m gone…😉 Sold the White Cherokee today! So hopefully that means I can focus back on MY projects!

Yes, vey cool info. I guessed there was a reason and guessed that the smaller piston would move further and faster… Thanks for confirming the reason!

While I was at HF I picked up some new flare wrenches. Worked great, but at least one of the flare nuts is rounded, so I think I will make new hard lines. I think this is called a double flare… Might be an excuse to get a really nice flare tool. 😉 With that off I was able to split the...

What's going on in my little Garage....

That was exactly my issue too, plus i had to go all the way to the garage to adjust the pressure.. And I have a master bathroom remodel upcoming. I have heard nothing but good reviews. It is VERY Quiet, and fills in a couple of minutes... far better solution for $160.

What's going on in my little Garage....

New years Eve! On the Brake conversion, I need to resize the Mustang rotor centers out to 72mm, to fit the Jeep hubs. It’s 0.5mm or so, but It’s a tricky one… Absolutely not doing it by hand, as it’s a hubcentric rotor. But the rotor is too big to fit on my Lath/Mill combo. Gotta come up...

What's going on in my little Garage....

And here is the 1999+ front unit bearing… Fits on the knuckle just fine… Back side. Secured with 3 long bolts. But here is the first mismatch. Hub center hole in mustang rotor is 71mm… Measures 70.70mm prob because of paint. Bearing hub is 72mm nominal. So I need to grind one or the...

Rea Got it. So I agree with you on the caliper bracket not being man enough, and I've addressed that in theory, but we will see how it pans out. In your other message, you also express concern about the master cylinder being able to push enough fluid for the bigger calipers... Again, I agree...

What's going on in my little Garage....

I completely agree with you. That was clear in my head, that the caliper mounting holes were close together, relatively thin, and as you say, the real rotational load is on the wings. Also, with a larger rotor, there is more axial torque on the bracket, so it’s gotta be right. My plan is to cut...

What's going on in my little Garage....

Boxes arrived. Powder… And rear caliper seal kits. No wheel bearings and ball joints yet, so I’m waiting to put this whole front assemble together. 🙄

What's going on in my little Garage....

So I give credit to the guy that blazed this front conversion on the Jeep Cherokee(XJ) here is the link to his blog. He actually shows a bunch of options, but I’m going with the big boys version. http://jeepm62superchargerkit.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html Now, it’s my understanding that the XJ...

What's going on in my little Garage....

Thanks guys! I’ve seen lots of Porsche’s with yellow calipers and just yesterday I saw a Lamborghini SUV with like a lime green… I’m hoping that the calipers visually “Pop” with the black metallic body and black chrome wheels, and look good.

Been working on caliper color.. Maybe I'm weird, but red is soooo..... Boring...;) I'd decided on yellow, but as I well know there are 10,000 yellows! But after a lot of thought.... and research... This is what I decided on... Supernovas Yellow from Prismatic Powders...

What's going on in my little Garage....

The big issue is that the brake pad wings, that wrap around the rotor limit the rotor size… and of course, the tiny stock caliper mounting doesn’t match the Brembo. Second issue is that the parking brake drum is incorporated into the rotor hat. The assembly looks like this: So I’m thinking I...

What's going on in my little Garage....

Just to show how **** the stock size brakes look, with my 20” wheels on… and despite me putting drilled and slotted rotors on, and good pads, the brakes still sucked. Front zoomed. Rear zoomed: You can barely see the brakes! Now to the rear brakes plan… And I’m out in the wilderness...

What's going on in my little Garage....

But there was more… Front and rear rotors. Keep in mind, this is a jigsaw puzzle of parts to make this work…. Invented/figured out by a guy called CobraMarty on the Jeep forums to stop his Cherokee on 35” tires.. I’m just following the path.. It’s a jigsaw puzzle that a guy posted on the...
