    West TN estate sale

Searching on anvils I hit this craigslist ad for an estate sale in west Tennessee: http://jacksontn.craigslist.org/tls/4784436200.html Pics at: http://www.estatesales.net/estate-sales/TN/Kenton/38233/777372 Looks like it would be a fun morning, but I'm too far away to get up there this weekend.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Got this $5 Scout at a garage sale a few weeks ago. Looked it up on the vise wiki (http://scuttle.dayid.org/wiki/index.php/Wilton_Vise) and saw a 4" one but not a 3.5", so thought I'd throw a photo up. It's missing the appropriate turntable lock--any ideas where to find one?

Replacements for Kennedy machinist drawer pulls?

Those look a lot like mine but not enough. The center hole in the back with the extruding diamond around it is not like mine at all. In its place I have simply a metal stud that is split in half. When you insert it into the hole in the drawer, you bend the two halves apart, securing the pull to...

Replacements for Kennedy machinist drawer pulls?

Did anything every come of this? My Kennedy box is missing a little handle, a couple had been altered by the OP in order to keep them working (he drilled and screwed through one of the pin holes) and one more I probably ruined by bending the split too much. I'd be grateful to know of any...

    Which Air Compressor to Choose?

Used equipment like that is a shot in the dark. Go with trustworthy guy and bank a little karma. Might need it later.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Dudes! Look what I found! It's like a treasure hunt. I took the second handle off the Duplex box and the key was hidden inside it, along with the little key code badge. So along with both boxes I have both keys. I don't know why that is so satisfying, but there you have it. Soaked both...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Taumac--Did you remove your clasps, paint, then re-rivet? Or just mask and spray? Zkling--thanks for the 3-point bending suggestion. I will try that out, need to find a long enough piece of angle iron. Outlaw--I found your earlier post with the bending tool design. I do have a few rough edges...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Thanks for all the great tips, guys. What about the bent front door of the Duplex? Unless I want to dismantle a piano hinge I can't take it off the cabinet. Any tips for bending this back into straight?

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Saved the most interesting for last. The top box turned out not to be a craftsman, but a Duplex, box number 1244, made in Fort Smith Arkansas. I did find the key for the bottom box but not for this one--I assume I can get one made. The drawers, again no ball bearings, pull like it was made...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Next, I purchased a top/bottom roller combo for $120. Seems kind of high, but I liked them and like them even more after working on them for a bit. The bottom is a Craftsman 65035, made in 7/74. Judging from the dates on the **** I found behind the drawers, the same person owned it...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

This seems like the place to ask about old boxes, so here goes. Maybe I can move it if its not right. I've bought three recently. I'd like to use them, and don't need them to look shiny and new, but would like them to last. I'd like to interrupt rusting if possible. The first is on old Kennedy...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

Good to meet you, nine. I get over to BR pretty regular, often to visit the lkq or pull apart for my s15 parts chaser. So we might have the GMC in common, too.

    2014 Garage sale thread!

lol. I forgot about the SK. The photo I took after I got home with my angle drill and wanted to use it, so I installed the rear sway bar in my S15. All the stuff in the photo is the assembled tools for that job (reported on S10 Forum). The SK mixed set (all but one 3/8" metric set but a 1/2"...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

$5 Kennedy toolbox, rusty on the bottom but all drawers pull smooth as butter. I had to take all the junk in it, too. Guy wouldn't let me dump it out... $5 old school Makita drill, seems to work fine. Might try replacing the battery just to see if I can get a little more speed out of it.

Thanks for the hello's. Egnorant, incredible work on your shop there. I have recently purchased for $5 a Kennedy tool box just like your red one, the 7-drawer deal. It has some rust on the bottom but all drawers work. I will be cleaning it up and painting it soon I hope.

Thanks for having me. I keep returning to this site for all kinds of useful info, so figured it was time to get rid of the ads. My Dad used to say that people spent their money on traveling or art. We traveled, but our cousins always had the good art. Apparently when I wasn't paying close...
