    Building a buggy: nobggrnchvy

He's been very helpful. He's actually helping me make a mod to the chassis so I can fit dual shocks per corner behind the rear seat while still working with all the sheet metal he has on the shelf. Thanks for following. You had the blue 8.1L right? Rear lube was 97+. It provides better...

Bought a matching one to mine for my kiddo to grow into as she's in the garage way more than she should be. Thanks

So instead of cluttering up a garage build thread, I decided to take the build of this particular thing to a new place in fabrication. You can follow along here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9004790#post9004790

At some point during all this, the front axle also showed up. It needs a lot of time with a plasma and sawzall to be stripped down far enough to be useful.

Into the meat and potatoes, building something. I cleaned and cleaned, then cleaned some more all the plate pieces that make up the subframe. It all went together pretty reasonably, but I did appreciate being able to clamp it to the table to draw some pieces together. This was...

    Building a buggy: nobggrnchvy

I was updating my garage thread as this progressed, but realize it's not really the right place for it. I'll keep the build updates here and the garage stuff in the garage thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277895 So, I'm building a buggy to replace my crawler. I...

I don't know about sweet, but I will attest to it being a ton. Reminded me of welding out the back half on the Chevy back when.

I finished welding out the sub frame Saturday and got it cleaned up and off the bench. Then spent half the day cleaning the bench itself of tools, weld bb's and dust so I could assemble the chassis fixture. The fixture consists of a couple of 2x4s welded together and a bunch of plates that...

    ZMotorsports Shop Projects 2.0

Pressure transducer to the CAPS pump is intelligent, I did the same on my Cummins powered Dodge to my CP3. With the extra filters you never quite 'know' when they need replacement without it. The pressure can be ok at idle (when you would look at an analogue gauge under hood), but quickly head...

Same bolts, but normal nuts instead of stovers. They're only getting to a couple hundred degrees (I checked), it's not going to remove the temper. I think Fastenal says, conservatively, 450*F is the upper limit without affecting yield strength.

Before I could get into the subframe this weekend, I had to fix a popping that was coming from the front end of my Dodge. The hole for the upper track bar mount had ovaled out, even with a 9/16" F911 bolt in it torqued to 150ft/lbs. I've had the parts to fix it for years, but it wasn't an issue...

Go to irate4x4.com, same people, different place. I should start a shop thread over there, but it's so much work to redo it. When this buggy is more than just some tacked pieces I will make a thread for it though.

:willy_nil Hard to make progress during the week with work and the 2-1/2yo. I get about an hour in a night if I'm lucky. More pieces are on it currently and I've prepped all the weld in standoffs, but unless you look close it looks the same. I'm there too, yes. I recognize your SN as well.

 No, I didn't rob a bank. It's money well spent really. The time I would have spent designing, then cutting and coping everything just to have an inferior end product just didn't make any sense. All the plate is Domex 600MC, so it's 100+ksi tensile which is 3x boring a36 meaning it's going...

I spent my free time this weekend and pieced together most of the subframe for the Ibex chassis. Most of the time was spent cleaning, the tig does not like the pickled finish and it all has to come off where the beads go. Wire brushing backed by acetone wipes, a very tedious process. The fit was...

38' Continental 5th wheel, it has a kitchen, bath and bunk. I added 400w of solar and an inverter, which is really nice for dry camping. We only fire the generator for the microwave or occasional use of AC basically. The tongue was really dark so I added some lighting for both side and...

    Show us your welding projects

It's in my build thread, so I guess I'm double posting, but it was a fun diversion while I had some holiday down time. I drew up a chassis table that will double down as a welding table once I'm done building a crawler chassis. I have a 3/8" 4x8 sheet from a bench we scraped at work for the...

Goatbuilt 4 seater chassis. Building it to go crawling and play in the sand better than the old truck did. Packaging bypasses with the coil overs and air bumps in the back is going to be interesting.
