Garde 8: Zinc Chromate vs Zinc Aluminum

This will be to mount a rear bumper to a Jeep. It does not matter if I ran a structural and it shows Grade 5 would work, I want to use the strongest bolt possible that will fit and meet my corrosion needs. That just happens to be 8 @ 7/16” bolts in fine thread. I’d love to use stainless for...

Garde 8: Zinc Chromate vs Zinc Aluminum

That is good to know. Do they compensate for the coating thickness when you buy the accompanying nut? The application I have in mind is a through bolt that would have a Flat, Lock, Nut stack up.

HF Toolboxes Workbench - Phase 3

This is in reference to the newest deeper 44" set. Can you take the larger drawers out of the top chest and exchange them for some of the thinner drawers in the bottom chest? I'd like to get all thinner drawers in the top, and have the thicker ones on the bottom. I'm pretty sure I saw...

Garde 8: Zinc Chromate vs Zinc Aluminum

While looking for some Grade 8 fasteners, I happen to notice McMaster has grade 8s in two types of coating. What I consider the traditional Yellow Chromate found in every hardware store and one called Zinc Aluminum. the description says the Zinc Aluminum is 5 times more corrosion resistant. I...

    Need help finding a bolt

This is an after market flat belly up skid. I feel should own stock in anti seize. Sadly, I just had one strip out even though I don’t tighten to spec and use lots of anti seize. It had to be a total fluke since all the others came out perfectly. I had to weld a sacrificial hex bit in it...

    Need help finding a bolt

I’m having difficulty finding a specific type of bolt. I am looking for an M12 flat head that uses Torx instead of an Allen key. It needs to be 8.8 or 12.0. The M12s are used to hold the transfer case skid on my Jeep. I feel the torx bit will be less likely to strip out than the Allen...

    Draw Latch: Source Need....HELP

I am very limited on space so something that has more than 2”-2.5” of throw in a handle won’t work. I need something that pulls straight up like this or the rubber ones that stretch up and lock in a cradle.

    Best drill bits on amazon?

This is sadly on the bottom side of my jeep frame. I wish I could put it in a Mill or even a drill press. The rescue bit might work. Anyone ever put a mill end in a hand held drill?

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

I have the 2863-20, it is bit bigger than I'd like, but I never have to worry about it taking something off. Axles nuts, Control arms bolts, fan nuts, they call come out instantly. The only thing I worry about is so much torque that it will just bust off the bolt.
