Asian tools (China, Japan, Taiwan) taht are worth a damn

I`ll second (and third) the Koken recomendation. Been making tools since 1940, patented a form of flank drive in the 60`s (I believe). They do a lot of research, hold a lot of patents, and make some awesome tools - sort of the japanese snap-on. I enjoy winding my SO guy up with the Koken...

Does anybody *actually* use a creeper on a regular basis?!

I use one all the time - but then again I dont need to jack up my truck to get under it on one - just slide straight under :) gotta love the under axle clearance of a lifted Range Rover :P Ahem not that I spend much time underneath it trying to cure oil leaks.... its just marking its territory

    Lifetime Warranties??

Call me crazy but does anyone else on here feel that the notion of buying cheap second hand 'branded' tools on ebay (trademe in NZ) or in pawn stores then trying to get free replacements from their dealers is somehow wrong? I mean you didn`t pay retail, you didnt buy it from the manufacturer...

see my new tool I bought today.

It means I don`t get it until my birthday - meaning almost two months of looking at it sitting in our wardrobe (rather than my garage), and hey who can complain when your wife buys you a snap-on roll cab...?

see my new tool I bought today.

Well i guess my purchase counts - no photo as of yet but will post one tomorrow. My wife just brought me a KRA2007 roll cab for my 27th birthday... (shame i have to look at it in the wardrobe til the 6th of May, but what the hell , I can`t complain). Picked it up from my Snap-on guy tonight - he...

    Bought some nicholson files today

Whoa there people, i`m not having a go at anyone or anything here. Just wanted to point out the logical inconsistiencies in your argument. There are say 2 billion people in the world with a first world standard of living / manufacturing. You cant have it both ways - protection through subsidy or...

    Bought some nicholson files today

Notwanting to stir here (and believe me I have my flame suit on when I say this), but did you know that in the rest of the world we have the same conversation, except its comparing the relative merits of american vs european vs japanese vs taiwanese etc... and most of the time we pick the...

Koken Titanium Socket Set or Snap-on???

Just wondering if anyone on here has experience with Titanium Sockets / Ratchets? I was talking to my local Koken rep and he offered to get some in, should I so desire (what a dumb question...) http://www.koken-tool.co.jp/catalog/en/index.html Anyway they have a pentagonal drive system, so as...

    KRA2007 - goodentry level roll-cab?

Just so no-one thinks I dont like Snap-on gear, i`m looking at buying a wee roll-cab for the garage, a KRA2007. I know this is one of their entry level cabs - anyone have any experience with these? Is the quality okay? they cost about NZD$1800 (about USD$1400) so are a bit more than the...

Does anyone use line wrenches that AREN'T Snap On?

Can I chime in with an outside opinion. I work on old vehicles, worse than that old 4x4s from a wet coastal climate (for fun no less). I use a set of double ended King Tony flare nut spanners, have done for the past 4 years. Even had to use a cheater bar on one. The result - that good old...

Fit for purpose more important than country of origin?

Firstly, hi to everyone here from teh other side of the world, down here in New Zealand. i`ve been lurking on here for a while, looking for advice and technical hints, but this is the first post. A common theme seems to be "buy USA made rather than japanese/german/italian/british/taiwanese...
