    People ****

Right after xmas there was a pallet at the local HD with a handwritten sign, customer returns old tools new boxes. They were marked down 15-20% off retail of the NEW tool price. So people got new tools for xmas, put their old one in the box and returned it and HD is trying to sell them for a...

Radio Shack Closing - Parts Drawers

When our stores closed I struck up conversation with the employees and they directed me to some really sweet deals that were not obvious or not advertised.

    King TONY tools ?

King Tony is a Taiwan brand, made exclusively in Taiwan. I don't own any but have read good things about them. My impression is they try to make good quality tools, they certainly price them that way.

Why to you like Made in USA tools?

I buy American because I'm an American worker. Buying overseas made goods does hurt our economy, anyone who tells you different is blowing smoke where the sun don't shine. "Our economy" as in that which belongs to all Americans. When capitalists say it doesn't hurt the economy, they mean it...

    Roku ??

    1. Yes. I own a Roku TV and Roku Streaming Stick (new model), purchased both from Amazon. I really like my Roku TV, I appreciate it's simplicity and the remote is the best ergonomically I've used. The picture quality is lacking a bit but it's not that big a deal to me. The Streaming Stick has...

Cleaning up rusted parts, what is the safest and best method?

Safest and best is hire someone else to do it. Once you get passed that ... 99% of the time I use a wire wheel because I want to get it done, not fart about. But sometimes I don't mind farting about, like having a handful of rusty bolts -- drop them in vinegar and fetch them tomorrow. Sometimes...

Why Do You Buy Tools (Sockets, Wrenches, Bits, Screwdrivers, Hex Sockets) In Sets?

I buy sets because when I'm in the middle of something I want to finish, not go shopping.

    biscuit joiner? Yea or Nay?

This idea that biscuits don't add strength is an internet myth. I have built cabinets with **** joints, biscuits and glue then later tried to break those joints apart. Try it then tell me they don't add any strength. You will delaminate the plywood before breaking the joint. And I've built...

Dewalt MB radial arm saw on Craigs. Worth it?

If you're the kind of person that keeps your wits handy and stays mindful of where your hands are then buy it. If you tend to pinch your fingers in doors or otherwise are absent minded then leave it for someone else.

For those who have used or thought about carpet in the garage...

WTF. I have never heard of anyone anywhere putting carpet in their garage. I can't even stand carpet in the house, let alone in the garage. What next, wallpaper and tiffany lamps.

    What is THE best degreaser?

I don't know the best but I use Home Depot brand orange citrus degreaser and it covers my needs. It's basically generic Zep. It'll take paint off if you leave it too long. It also stings if you get it on a soft spot like the bottom of your wrist.

    OBDII scan tool

Just don't waste money on those cheap blue ones you see on Amazon and ebay, they aren't compatible with all vehicles. I had one and it only worked on about half the vehicles I tried. Maybe it was bad luck but the BAFX has worked on everything. And yeah, gotta pay attention to that apple vs...

    Spirit Level Question

I bought a 48" to do my bathroom remodel and it got the job done but I also used a 24", a torpedo and a laser level (for plate rail trim). There were times I could have used a 72" but not enough to buy one.

    tool abusers

I abuse the hell out of tools. Ratchets and Crescents as hammers, screwdrivers as pry bars and scrapers, sockets to drive out bearings. Grew up on a farm, the best tool for the job is the one you have. Can't take 'em with me when I die. Granted, I don't abuse all of them, there are some I use...

    you tube uninformative videos

I don't know why you quoted me, but yes, I agree with you. Once you have done a thing, you have experience; watching a video is not experience. Some guys will hang out on forums, read a question and google the answer then post like they know something.
