I've been using the HF gloves. The blue (7 mil IIRC) for most stuff, and I keep a box of the black ones (9 mil) for the heavy duty stuff. Probably not as good as the Gorillas, but the price is right.

I haven't even started yet. Had a '73, stripped it down and it turned out to be a bondo special (almost an inch thick in some spots) :eek:. So I picked up the 72 last fall, but haven't even started the teardown yet. I'll use the 73 as a parts car. Maybe this weekend I'll start tearing it down.

I am really enjoying the progress on the Z. I have a '72 sitting in my driveway, waiting for me to get to it. After seeing your progress, I am feeling a little motivated. Guess I need to get my **** in gear. Nice work BTW, you got some skills! :thumbup:

I've been eyeing this one for a while. Looks a bit large for EDC, but I guess I'd get used to it. Right now I carry a Benchmade 5000SBK. Not exactly small, but OK for EDC. It has held up well for years. http://www.benchmade.com/products/5000

It sounds as if the Proto is a step up from the others. It may have been the Kobalt or the Craftsman that I was thinking of. Thanks for the input, I'm actually interested in these now.

I'm not sure how I feel about the "spline" thing. I am always a little skeptical of the "one wrench, many fasteners" thing. I will admit, I have never used them, so I can't say anything good or bad. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I bought one from HF about 2 years ago, same thing happened. I didn't bother returning it, just wrote it off. Most of the airtools I bought from HF were ok, but not this one. I never bought another, so I don't have a recommendation.

Mine is the same as the website. I just met him a few weeks ago, so I haven't bought a ton of stuff yet. I'm hoping that as I buy more, he will knock a few bucks off here and there. As far as meeting him, you could try asking at a local shop, see when he stops there. Or they may have a business...
