Looking at Williams, they seem to get good reviews and reasonably priced.

A lot of reviews are saying that the current offerings aren't so great. Randomly changing direction, breaking, etc.

HumbleMechanic is really great and does mostly VW stuff. His VR6 Turbo build is really great and he knows his stuff.

I'm happy with my 1/4" Tekton set. Just got a 1/2" Gearwrench set and a little concerned with the finish on the sockets. The ratchet also has a few scuffs/dings. I'm going to buy a 3/8" socket set soon and it will likely be a Tekton.

It's not the perfect finish I worry about. A few scratches from moving around during shipping is fine, but the freckling looks like the part was not fully cleaned properly before the finish was applied. I'm most worried about a defective finish and the chrome flaking off. We'll see how it holds...

The “made with global materials” has me skeptical. The same way that some cars are made in other countries, partially disassembled, and then re assembled in the US so they can say “made in USA”.

I think Sears also sells individual GW sockets, I know I've bought at least 1 from them before.

Eventually I want to replace a lot of my tools with SO or other US made brands. This set should do nicely to get me started for a few years. Next month I’m hoping to pick up a 3/8 socket set to replace my Husky set. Also a good set of Channellocks.

I ended up buying the gearwrench 1/2” set from Tooldiscounter.com it was cheaper there than Amazon. I almost went with Tekton since it was less expensive and had more pieces but I just bought a Tekton 1/4” set and wanted to try a different brand. Things that pushed me towards the gearwrench...

What pro features do GearWrench sockets offer over Tekton? I'm also looking for a 1/2" and 3/8" socket set and I'm leaning towards Tekton, but would pay the extra $ for GearWrench if they are a better quality socket. I just bought a 1/4" Tekton set and so far it seems nice for the money, but...
