    Saw blade on mounted arbor?

Flea mrkt junk I picked up today... Question: How would the saw blade on the arbor with a pulley been set up or used. For what... or was it just taken out of say a table saw? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Today I bought this beat to hlll Buffalo Junior of sorts... Kenmore motor attached to makeshift mount. Missing middle pulleys switched to v-belt and a hundred holes it the table. Everything turns ok but return spring mechanism if there was one is not working now. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

That's interesting and a statement contrary to a similar claim attributed to the patents associated with the Hamilton Varimatic evolution and original inventor. I'd rather not continue disseminating misinformation so Thank you on that one. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    Workbench Question

Upright compressor... definitely needs timed auto drain valve as it's almost impossible to reach down back around either wall base to drain condensation. Piles of lumber scrap remnants, light gardening catch all and a utility closet rounds out my four corners. At 14 x 30 I can attest to the...

    A couple of whats-its

What about this? I thought it looked similar to a pocket hole jig but it's not... the notch through the mid part has casting filets(or round inside corners) so it doesn't seat firmly. There is the one marking 60 or 09. Thanks. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    My vintage circular saw

I recently acquired an old Dayton saw. As I gave it a once over and checked to see if the saw seated squarely and wasn't bent I was surprised how easily I could flex the seat plate which is no good for anything square. Potentially dangerous especially if I had just assumed it was a time tested...

    Pallet up-cycleing

Had a pallet from glass doors for our fireplace... probably 6/4+ oak was clean so I pulled the twist nails and started cleaning it up. I'd made a tapering jig I wanted to use and an oak stair tread so I built what I could. I left the nail holes. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Brass. Stripped the threads right out as it headed for my eye. Thankfully I was wearing glasses. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I rigged a chuck from an old cordless drill with some odd nuts and bolts of different sizes so I could use it on the end of the arbor of my bench grinder. I really thought I had it when I put a big cone on there... I'd go easy till I knew everything was cool. Then I got hit in the head with...

Barn/garage tool lot (molasses rust restoration)

Is that vertical flourescent tube lighting on the wall in the back? If so that's a good angle to see surfaces and sheens etc. when doing finishes... Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Show us Your Vintage Bench Grinders!!!!

Runs smoothly with one wheel or none. The shaft is straight but the keyhole for the pulley set screw (that someone had bored themselves)and the easily damaged threads are evidence it is soft iron as you say. The pulley was 1" off center which I moved but I won't know if that quieted things down...

Show us Your Vintage Bench Grinders!!!!

I think this might be a "General" from looking around. Got it for $20 and added the motor for $10. It's done well for me set up as a grinder with a wire wheel but it was vibrating more than it should have. Eventually I got a dedicated grinder and put a buffing wheel (1/2" + 1/2") on with the...
