    2017 HD deals/sales/clearance thread

One and only thing I'll say about PCA. Well two things. It stills works in my local stores, and it's always easy to find a machine where nobody will bother you (appliances section is my favorite). Two, I doubt unavailability of computers in the store is a reaction to a few dozen deal hunters on...

What tool brand should I go with home owner?

Tekton, Neiko, as already mentioned. Also Gearwrench. Add the Sunex brand to the list of low cost, high value, high quality tool brands. And readily available on Amazon. Pittsburgh Pro at Harbor Freight is perfectly acceptable for a homeowner. I find yard sales a waste of time for good hand...

    Tools from the old world

I really wish I could find this in the USA or on the Amazon.de site. Please also post other garden tools from Europe, I would love to find some.

what is tool do you misplace/lose the most?

Utility knives, which is why I buy an extra one about every other time I go to Home Depot. I'm just a Joe Homeowner but I use them like crazy and they disappear. A few weeks ago a contractor drove by my house and a beautiful Stiletto framing hammer slid off his bed cover and fell onto the...

Did I overpay for these tools I found at an Estate sale?

I will tell you what is worse than overpaying for a few tools. What is way worse is having doubt and walking away, and then realizing much later that you blew a great chance. That hurts even more. I don't see a lot of harm in taking a $50 chance if you stick with learning things. I am a...

    Akro-Mills/Other Plastic Parts/Sorting Bins -- sources?

These are not cheap, but my work pays for them, and they are made in the USA. http://www.lewisbins.com/ Very nice quality, MUCH higher quality than the Chinese bins from U-Line which I have also tested.

Why so many auto parts stores nowadays?

I've wondered the same question about the proliferation of auto parts stores, but I'm not complaining. It is convenient when you are in a jam. I'm within a 2 minute drive of a O'Reilly (the newest store), Autozone, Advance and a Pep Boys, as well as a ratty old NAPA that has existed forever. All...

Need help choosing a riding mower

If you don't know what you are doing, you can hurt yourself really quickly with a lawn tractor on a steep lot. Whatever you buy, please take it carefully. I live on a small, but relatively steep lot. I have John Deere X324 (the 4-wheel steer version of the X320). Not a cheap tractor ($4500-ish...

How do you do ...tire rotation?

This problem is simple to solve.. don't rotate your tires. I don't rotate my tires and they are fine. I do almost all basic service on my vehicles myself. If I happen to be at a dealer for something, and they rotate the tires, that's okay I guess. Otherwise, the tires stay where they are...

The Wrench Wall (tools on wall - gasp!)

I love the idea of pegboard but the implementation is always, shall we say, sub-optimal. The board and hooks at the Depot don't work with **** unless you install the plastic black retainers, which don't fit over all hook types. A good use for this thread would be identifying the very best "peg...

$140 for 8 pair of NWS pliers, plus more goodies

These deals are pricing mistakes and I'm guessing the orders will be cancelled.

Also grabbed one in Danvers MA yesterday for $17. They've had these for a while but the stock is starting to dwindle.

    4-pack M18 5.0's $174

I think you'd have a better shot flipping these on Craigslist; there are a lot of working people out there that don't do the eBay or Amazon thing. My father is a longtime contractor and hasn't a clue how to use eBay but is a huge Craigslist fan. I did go in on this deal because I have so many...

$99 Milwaukee M12 1/4 in. Hex Impact Driver Combo Kit with M12 3/8 ratchet

My kit + free ratchet came today, no messups like the order mentioned above. I took 1 of the 2 batteries out of the kit and the rest of the kit will be going to a GJ member, I'll keep 1 battery and the ratchet. I think a pretty good deal for everyone involved.

HD Black Friday- Table Saw & Tool Boxes & Go Karts

So in general the sentiment is that this isn't wonderful overall, but I'm wondering if anyone else agrees that the Milwaukee FUEL cordless circular or sawzall combo with a 9 Ah battery might be pretty decent? Seems to be at least $50 less than you could do buying them separately on eBay.

$99 Milwaukee M12 1/4 in. Hex Impact Driver Combo Kit with M12 3/8 ratchet

I also sprung. I just want the ratchet and the battery. I'd take short money for the driver and the charger if anyone wants it (PM me).
