Holy balls Craftsman auctions on ebay

I did the same thing...last week. The metric and SAE sets were $20 each so I bought 2 of each. The chinese garbage was there on the same shelf, I had to pick through to find the USA stuff.

    what happened to my post?

I know I have to login at least 6 times to really do anything on the forum. Seems to time out on the other end but never notifies me of the timeout happening. It's ok...just gets irritating when I write a bunch and get denied the posting privilege because I'm magically logged out. Then I have...

    Planned Obsolescense

It's a sad reality, but it is real. Cell phones are "engineered" to last 18 months. I have had pretty good luck with CFLs, of course I found the commercial grade GE bulbs.... My tube TV was made in 1996, still works. The DVD player disaster.... $400 for the top of the line Panasonic...died...

    Best anti seize to use?

The copper stuff is tasty on celery...lol Seriously, I use the copper for almost everything. Spark plugs, brakes,...basically any dissimilar metal to metal contact. The car as well as in the house. A little goes a long way.

    Do you buy engraved tools?

Engraved or not...sure I buy them. At the flea market it's almost impossible to buy stuff that doesn't have some type of mark on it. Small dots from a punch set, letters and numbers, ...it's all good. Theft happens. It's part of life. Garages buy airbags from thugs that steal them. Think...

New guy with some garage sale finds saying hi

The Klein pliers are really cool, I have a set that are a bot older, stampled Bell System as well. The pliers Teq are from a Toyota tool set, I'm thinking form the 70s... I have apair of Boker snpis, I think they're 16" long, real solid. I think the company is gone since I can't find any info...

Craftsman raised panel wrenches are now being made in China with pics

One good thing is he chinese **** won't sell at the flea market. the flea I visit has boxes marked with labels like 'USA only' or 'Made in USA'. The cheap garbage from overseas simply sits and collects dust. I finished my RP buying yesterday, 4 sets, 2 each of the 12 pc 6 pt combination...

    Different ratchet drive sizes

I do a list. The Mcmaster Carr catalog comes in handy. Basically I want one of every size. Start with the 1/4" drive sae 12 pt shallow sockets. Move to metric 12 pt shallow. Continue through all the iterations until every socket is acquired. Now...I still do not have every one, but I will...

When did Great Neck go overseas?

I will hazard a guess of 1992-5. I have a tape measure that says 1991 on it and it's from the USA. A few hack saws, the same. The overseas stuff is beyond cheap, so I'm thinking a company/buyer acquired the company and started making the stuff in the far east.

What do you use to clean your hand tools?

I have to think what I got on them to start with. Motor oil I use a clean wipe. Coolant or other fluid of the like, rinse with a wet rag then apply some WD-40. Usually in the spring and fall, I clean my ratchets with WD and wipe with a paper towel. Oil is what I used to keep the mechanism...

    Lowes Kobalt brand; another customer

Not quite my cup of tea. A little cheap for my taste. I remember when they stopped selling Klein stuff. I picked up a bunch of stuff on clearance. Not too sure why they moved away from Klein ..HD still sells it. Of course, that's going to mexico.

    Snap-On customer service

funny...at my last job the snap-on guy wouldn't even stop his truck for us. 20 + guys in the shop...we all need something. OK... next step...hello SK...yes I'd like to place an order..

With everything being made in China...

I have to agree with the consensus here, SK is a brand I trust, so is Proto. Wright is a wonderful brand, very solid construction, all made in Ohio. Armstrong is another danaher company what will eventually outsource to the slums of shanghai, but for now they are made in the US. Klein is a...

    Craftsman: Outsource fallout

Slowly weaning myself off Sears entirely. Some of the stuff is still fine, like the pliers. The china garbage doesn't even look right; the color of the finish is different from the USA made stuff. I can imagine the child labor working 15 hour days get tired at some point. No...once it's all...

I concur with the Kennedy boxes. I have 2....or 3. Nice stuff. A bit hard to find (all mine came from the flea market).

    USA Made Screwdriver Help

I have many Klein screwdrivers. Put up with many years of use and keep going. I have snapped a tip or two but I guess it comes with the territory.
