I also just installed a radiant U tube heater....was a DIY project...had my talented electrician buddy...connect power & thermostat lead..had two buddies help hang unit..I ran the 1" gas pipe through the wall and plumbed to the unit...the 4" exhaust vent was my biggest challenge...needed 12' to...

Here's the one I bought for my 48x30x14 steel framed insulated shop have yet to install but it looks like a nice heavy duty reversible unit...... will add a natural gas tube heater this fall...

Using one in a 12x16 addition...2x6 framed..vaulted ceiling..concrete floor...its a Greer...installed Oct '12...works great.....the A/C is very welcome too...cool air flows well through rest of house..main A/C unit doesn't come on till outside day temps go past 86* or so...I'm at 6000'...

Wow..looks great ! I am in the planning stages of a 30x50 garage/shop 2x6 stick framed contractor bids are more than I expected...may consider a complete metal framed/sheeted building...finding good contractors in my area is the challenge...I'm 3 hrs west of GJ & 30 miles north of I-70....

I'd do it for sure...garage will stay cooler & warmer....cleaner too Just insulate before you start building benches..they will just be in the way
