How to make square holes for carriage bolts?

I think I have a set(or 2) of extractors similar to these. I may try pressing them in holes, or tapping them in with a heavy piece of mild steel. They are hardened steel, so the mild steel plate should deform before they do???

How to make square holes for carriage bolts?

Button head would eventually get ground/worn away to the point were I would be unable to hold it to remove it.

How to make square holes for carriage bolts?

I need to create a plate to go onto the bottom of a mower discharge chute. The OEM version uses carriage bolts and I would like to use for my version. 3/8" bolts and will use 3/16" or 1/4" steel. I know I can drill 3/8" hole and use file to make square, but was hoping someone would suggest...

    Problems with Milwaukee M12 Charger(S)

I had a similar experience. New M12 charger, but I had not used and approx. 2YO(it was a spare) Went to use it and no lights, tried multiple different batteries and nothing. I took it apart and found no issues, so assumed it had been a waste of time, but when I put it back together, it...

DeWalt 20V Grease Gun will not prime.

I am guessing that the brand/type of grease that is used is a factor in how fast the grease plugs the screen. It may also be that switching grease types may "cause a reaction" that leads to faster plugging, at least I have read some stuff that indicates some greases should not be mixed.

DeWalt 20V Grease Gun will not prime.

I think we have found a winner!!! The screen in my gun was badly clogged. Had a layer of sort of wax like substance over about 90% of the surface. I put in container of gas an sloshed around for a few minutes, let set and sloshed some more. That took some off, but there was still a lot...

DeWalt 20V Grease Gun will not prime.

I have not messed with it anymore, but I did some additional searching and found that there is apparently a screen that can get plugged/partially plugged and cause/contribute to this issue. I plan to inspect the screen in mine, but have not done so yet. I will report here when I do. I also...

DeWalt 20V Grease Gun will not prime.

I already watched that video(it is good info) and those are techniques that I have been using for years. For years I have backed off the threads a turn or two after installing a new tube as std procedure. Those procedures help, but may have to do multiple times, etc. and I am hoping there are...

DeWalt 20V Grease Gun will not prime.

Use tube till it is empty, put a new tube in. May or may not prime, without messing with it further. Some guns are more likely to self prime than others, but IIRC all of the guns I have used over 4+ decades have sometimes needed fiddled with to get them to prime. I have a 12V Milwaukee also...

DeWalt 20V Grease Gun will not prime.

I have had one for several years and a few times over the years, I have had trouble getting it to prime. After messing with it I always get it primed, but lately it has failed to prime more often and has required more messing around to get it to prime. I TT a buddy that also has one and he...

How to reduce snap ring plier tip size?

I have interchangeable tip SR Pliers, but have found that good quality fixed tips work better. That is why I want to modify a set.

How to reduce snap ring plier tip size?

I shop at a lot of surplus/discount places. They often get good stuff in at good prices, but usually not a good selection. I have several sets of SR Pliers with interchangeable tips. They usually work OK, but I like a set of fixed tip SR Pliers a lot better, I just don't like the typical cost...

Do you know how to thread in a screw?

Most people here, probably do, but I bet there are some that don't. I would guess that the great majority of the general public does not. If you remove a screw from something and then go to put it back in, do you just start turning the screwdriver clockwise? That works fine in some materials...

Harbor Freight 4x8 trailer. How is SD version different than HD version?

I don't know if this is accurate, but I C&Pd this from one of the SD reviews: "This is an upgrade to their lighter weight "folders" Heavier gauge steel. 5-lug wheels and a box (not "U") axle. I've found the lighter weight versions to handle more than 2X rated load repeatedly (hauling 1-1/2 tons...

Harbor Freight 4x8 trailer. How is SD version different than HD version?

Thanks for the replies! I am fairly sure that BOTH versions fold up and that BOTH versions tilt. I noticed similar shipping weights, but ALSO noticed product weights. They indicate: HD: Product Weight 253 and Shipping Weight 261.80 SD: Product Weight 330 and Shipping Weight 257.40 A lot...
