Show off your sheet metal fab projects

After looking at some of these I'm embarassed to even post mine. But I will anyhow... This was my latest project. The section of the inner fender under the battery tray in my 70 Monte Carlo. The Monte's came with plastic inner fenders that always crack so I'm replacing mine with metal ones from...

Thanks. I found the whole set at a local pawn shop for $275 with several drawers full of tools. A drawer full of metric wrenches, a drawer full of SAE wrenches, 2 drawers of screw drivers, a small drawer full of Allen wrenches, a tap and die set, and a air grinder... Pretty good deal I think...

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Not yesterday but over the weekend I picked up a new Craftsman 26" 3 piece tool box plus tools from a local pawn shop for $275! Then commenced to rearanging tools, modifing an old broken tool box into an intermediate section, then rearanging and...

Ever just run out of motivation?

I've been in the same boat several times. I work 12 hour rotating shifts (5 to 5) and normally work between 600 and 1000 hours of Over Time a year. Needless to say there are those days that I just want to go home and colapse in my lazyboy. Some times I loose motovation because I know I don't...

Cheap extension end broke off in Torx socket.

ummm How about the cheap easy way to try... Super glue on the end of a small bolt etc say 1/4-20 or smaller, stick it to the broken of part of the extention, allow to dry and pull out. Mind you you have to pull straight out as super glue doesn't so well with shear (sideways) tension. My $.02...

Is this rust fatal to a car?

Th area will need to be cut out, preferrably with a cut-off wheel or body saw. I would not use an A/O set up to do the cutting. Then either locate and buy the replacement section from a junk yard or from GM or fab it up yourself. the weld in the new patch panel. don't forget to sand blast/grind...

    350 not firing

Could be the ignition control module, I had a bought a brand new distributor and it was bad. You local autozone, advance etc can test it for you. Also check the pins in the plug connection. It can be very easy to bend these over when hooking up the plug. Go ahead ask me how I know....

    Body work advice

X2 on cutting out and welding in the new metal to fix it right. The fiberglass is a band-aid. It may get you your 5 years, yet it may not and may get it worse. Eventually it will need to be cut out and new metal welded in. The 2k epoxy is a good plan. I have been putting my filler over the...

Good layout for fluorescent light fixtures ??

New guy here, but I recently put up lights in my 20X24 attached garage. I picked them up off C.L. 3-8 ft and 12-4 footers for $80 with etra bulbs. I still have 6 of the 4 footers left over for future use... Anyway my attic access messed up the center row but I've plenty of light in there now...
