Far from the power lines, what to do?

The Liftmaster does come with a backup battery but I did not install it since it made no sense to me to have one in this kind of application. I repurposed the little backup battery elsewhere. I haven’t experienced any kind of RF interference issues between the EcoFlow and any other devices...

Far from the power lines, what to do?

Chuckster, you got it exactly right! We were very strategic in selecting our rural land with security in mind. The remote nature and character of our area and the distance and visibility of our land to public roads were taken into careful consideration before selecting and purchasing...

Far from the power lines, what to do?

I have a small garage I recently had built for a Sprinter van. It’s not even close to any source of power and I don‘t really need electricity for its intended purpose. On the other hand, the usability and enjoyment of the space would be greatly enhanced even with just a little bit of...

Is you garage shop to far away from your house?

So I had to measure to be sure. It’s 3/4 of a mile and a 490’ elevation drop between the house and the “barn”. Walking there isn’t too bad, the trip back up the hill burns a few calories; unless I drive the Mule up and back.

    Naked or stained?

So, if going the linseed oil route, watch a couple videos and or read up on tips before you begin. In my experience, I thin the boiled linseed oil up to 50/50 with paint thinner to help that first coat soak into the wood. About 15 minutes after applying, wipe off any excess then give it at...

    Naked or stained?

How about boiled linseed oil? It’s got some give to it compared to lacquer and is easy to touch up scrapes and scuffs. I used butcher block for my shop work bench and the linseed oil has been holding up nicely. It will add a slightly amber appearance to the wood.

Heat source for garage in our new house?

I’ve had good luck with my Reznor ceiling mounted propane heater. With a sealed combustion chamber, it uses combustion air from the outside and also vents combustion gases to the outside which is important considering all the flammable stuff people keep in their garages. I don‘t need cooling...

    Generator Selection and Install

As I was reading through your requirements, the Honda EU7000i exactly meets every point except price. Have you thought about looking for a gently used Honda? The EU6500i is the previous version of the current Honda EU7000i. The only difference being the newer version uses electronic fuel...

    Emt offset bend from box?

Nice work Smintman. I’m in the same boat. I want it to look nice but don‘t have time to practice making bends or nor inclination to invest in the proper tool. Like you, I bought the angled fittings so that the conduit would have a tight fit against the wall. Had to paint everything first...

    Husky Tool Storage

I have a slightly larger Husky box than the one you linked to but it’s been a good addition for to my shop and has held up well over the last three years. I took the wheels off and set it on a permanent wood platform made out of 2x6’s.

    Help with heating garage!

Would something like this work? This is the propane heater in my 25x26 shop. It has a fan inside that blows the heated air across the shop. It’s propane with the sealed burn chamber vented to the outside so there are no humidity issues as come with non-vented systems. It works well at...
