2 car garage in south west England

Just stumbled accross this thread - cracking build to high standards! I'm currently in the process of purchasing a house in Bristol - which has a space for at least 6 x7, so if you don't mind me asking, who did the plans for you? Matt

    Lets see your workbench

Love the welding bench on wheels - are you able to put any more pics up? Had a look at the threads you created, saw the feet one but not much else? Many thanks Matt

    >>>>> UK Hot Tool Deals - Post Them Here! <<<<<

Lot of stuff on there, grabbed some Facom '440' spanners to try them out in common sizes (10, 13, 17, 19 mm). Currently I have the most mish-mashed collection of crappy spanners and wanted to try them out before I commit to spending lots of my hard-earned. Have to say so far I am impressed.

    Garden Shed - UK

Looks like a helluva lot of thought has gone into the this ‘space’ (as they will insist on referring to it in on TV) and I like the workbench… One suggestion though, if the idea of the shop-vac is to extract saw dust, you may want to build a cyclone for it, and have the vac itself physically...

    Blue Gum Workshop Build

Excellent woodworking there, bummer about the wood movement! Seems to me though, that the metalwork on the door is good, so it should be easy for a man of your skillset to create a metal door out of e.g. 25mm box section? But as you alluded to, this was a year ago, so I’m guessing you’ve...

Cabinet for Small Parts Storage Cases

Excellent build! Was planning something similar to house my collection of 'sortacases', but possibly not that scale - you sir have set the bar! This video on youtoob shows the drawer spacer trick in action for a similar but different project, a cart for Bosch L-boxxess. Ok it's an advertorial...

One man's garage project from Finland..

Allow me to not congratulate you on not ‘cheaping out’. I’m slowly replacing cheap-and-nasty copies of PCL standard fittings with genuine ones, and I notice the difference. :rocker: No need to be sorry. One of the great things about this forum is the detailed pictures, e.g. of workbench...

    Tools from the old world

My sister lives and works in Switzerland and happens to know a guy who works for PB Swiss. So she got me these for Christmas. Because when I went to visit her, I only had hand baggage allowance, I couldn't take these home till now. Y'all care to guess what they are? Answer at the bottom of...

What are you guys using for a cord reel worklight?

This! Am glad I'm not alone...I've found batteries don't last when used infrequently by a hobbyist, even high end cordless tool batteries. I can imagine the situation being different if they are being used day in, day out by pros.

Facom Chest....am really tempted, anyone got one?

Oh and they are a plastic frame Given they appear to be surviving crashes, hopefully a plastic frame won't matter... Well, we got 3 posts in before somebody mentioned snap on :fawk: Naw but seriously, I don't have SO money. Interestingly, I very rarely see anyone with an SO box, but I do see...

Facom Chest....am really tempted, anyone got one?

Ok I've searched on here but not found much actual feedback from people who own them... Basically, am all set to 'pull the trigger' on one of these Facom chests. Not cheap by any means, but pretty good value compared to some of its competition, by European prices anyway. Anyone on here...

    Blue Gum Workshop Build

Absolutely awesome build - I grew up in Switzerland, where they do amazing things on hillsides, but usually by throwing lots of money and concrete at the problem! This build on the other hand, appears to use some thought and really clever footings. Please keep the updates coming, From a...

    Map vs propane.....little torch

Irrespective of what torch you get, drop $10-15 on a heat gun - even a cheap one from Harbor Freight will do a better, safer job with heat-shrink. Aside from the safety aspect, far less risk of leaving scorch marks on the heat-shrink, will make for a more professional looking job. ;) Just my...

How do you manage work/clean-up time in the shop ?

My spannering (wrenching) buddy is from Birmingham and has a particularly apt phrase “if you’re not doing anything, brush up, brew up or dance” – ‘brew up’ referring to make tea/coffee rather than brewing beer. In other words, if you come up against some kind of problem that you can’t...

    The swedish barn

God jul! Just read this thread over the course of a couple of evenings after everyone went to bed after the festivities. Please do keep the updates coming. As you mentioned, this was done in 2011 so I suspect it's all finished now, and you can enjoy some well earned öl in the 'bar area'...

    halfords pass/fail thread

'cept MachineMart charge full-fat prices for variable quality. My (limited) experience of Harbor Freight (at least the Phoenix, Az. branch near the airport) is they at least charge peanuts for variable quality kit. It could be that my experience was just a 'holiday romance' of course... Back...

Sortacase bargain at Wickes – UK Members

Might be of interest UK Members. I was in Wickes a few days ago. I’d stopped by to price up the materials to build a compressor hutch (but that’s another thread), and noticed they had these on special near the checkouts. They were on for £7.49 for the set, but looks like it's gone back up to...

    Lets see your workbench

Like the lumber cart, may have to steal that idea! Any chance of some more pictures to show what you’ve done? I can probably work out the dimensions (to fit my space). Many thanks. Matt

    New from Ireland

Thanks, will post up my own thread soon, just need to clear up the mess that is my small shop so I can take a picture or two. Don't wanna break the first rule of Garage Journal club now do I? (You do not post without pictures!) :D I spent a summer working as a mobile boat mechanic - got my...

    New from Ireland

Although I’ve only posted about 3 times on here myself, welcome! Sounds like you’ve got yourself a decent space, and we’ll get a garage build thread soon? Couple of bits of (unsolicited) advice from me. You’re probably aware of it all already, judging by all the building work you’ve done, but...
