    Another Pool Thread

Semi-retired bloke I know built his own several years ago right after pulling the semi-retired lever. He did all the work himself and traded a favor or two here and there so he only had materials costs, fuel for the backhoe, and his own labor. Roughly 20' x 40' x 5' deep. 8" slab for the base...

Filler for a gap on a wall

Caulk with the foam backer rod behind it is the quick and easy way out but I would probably do multiple layers of drywall mud. Build them up and feather them out to make the gap disappear and blend in. Might use hot mud for the first layer if it's thick enough.

Clogged underground pipes from downspouts - could use some suggestions

The first thing I would do is get a shovel and find out what kind of pipe you're dealing with. If it's that black corrugated stuff and it's plugged with roots you're already finished. If you have hard lines, those can be snaked or hydrojetted. One of these...

Which type of closet flange extender?

Just use this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Korky-Wax-Free-Toilet-Seal-Kit-6000BM/205616926 If you need more height than is included with the one kit get a second one. You won't have any problems.

24' Span for Loft Build in New Shop

Does the front of this "loft" need to be open or is it to be enclosed? If engineered lumber is not conveniently available, you could just make the front wall a truss.

Ratcheting Wrenches: 0 Degree vs Slight Offset vs Flex and Reversible vs Not

Reversible is of no practical value as long as the wrenches can be flipped over. I found the 0 degree offset ratcheting wrenches won't fit/swing in many places where they would be useful. The reversible fixed offset ones are generally better, but they offer no practical value over the flex...

    Repurposing radial arm saw

I modified one into an overarm router. Very handy if you have use for such a thing.

Pole barn on sonotubes (bigfoots) and slab questions.

If I was planning to pour an 8" slab anyway I would not bother with the piers. I saw mention of an engineer, so I would ask him to make any necessary modifications to build the structure as a slab on grade and go from there. Easier and cheaper.

    Gravel stabilization?

I don't see how dragging 6 cubic feet of gravel is less work than dragging 4.5 cubic feet of concrete.
