CL: SO end wrenches in IA

There's a CL ad for some SO end wrench sets in rural Osage Iowa if anyone is interested. The seller doesn't mention shipping, but it wouldn't hurt to ask if you're interested. I have no affiliation, it's just an ad I found when perusing the local CL tools for sale.

A/C Pros! How do you bend tubing? Please help!

Use a tubing bender like the one pictured by luvit. Practice first. As already mentioned, don't try a bend where the kinks are. Fix the kinks by using a flaring block. Slowly and carefully tighten the block over the kinks. Another option, if you know how to do proper refrigeration flares, is...

    Hoists for toys

I've used the cheap Craftsman red and black motorcycle jack for my Road King. It works great for most maintenance. I got it on sale for 60 bones 5 years ago. I've left up on the jack most of the winter for 5 years in a row with no problems. I'd like to build a platform lift, but for now the...

    anti-freeze

Make sure you use a radiant barrier tubing such as hePEX, which is made for radiant heating applications. PEX for potable water systems will allow oxygen to penetrate into the glycol and degrade your boiler and ferrous metal piping.

    Wrenches that will not rust???

As suggested earlier, McMaster-Carr stainless steel tools are probably going to be the best buy. If you don't already use them for various fasteners, gasket material, tools and other industrial supplies you soon will once you set up an account and place an order. They are very reasonable on...

    You guys let me down!

I know some people think the sensors are a pain and just one more item that can break or has to be maintained. Seriously, how many times have you had to repair or replace the sensor eyes on a garage door opener? Never? That's what I thought. I've had to adjust mine a couple times after being...

    Utility shelf brackets

Does anyone know who manufactures these brackets or where I might get more like them? They screw to 2" X 4" lumber and allow adjustment of shelving without removing any fasteners after they are installed. They come as a kit with the vertical slotted metal that are screwed to the 2x4 vertical...

Nice cuts on thick sheet metal

Call around to local sheet metal shops and ask if they will shear it for you. At my shop I have the capability to shear 1/4" mild steel sheets 10' long. Most medium to large sheet metal shops have this capability or more. Better yet don't even call, just find a shop that you know can do it and...

Passing air from compressor to reel 20 ft away...

I usually use black iron pipe and threaded fittings, but copper and sweat fittings can be used as well. There are also companies that make aluminum air line systems, but that seems pretty pricey compared to black iron.

    Quincy QE-5 on CL...should I?

Thanks Zrexxer...that pretty much rules out that purchase for me then. I might run 240V to the garage eventually, but it would only be 1PH.

    Quincy QE-5 on CL...should I?

I've been looking for a better air compressor for a while...I have 2 oil-less now. One Sear's 33 gallon and another (can't remember the brand) about 32 gallon. They are extremely loud and seem slow to get to max pressure. I found a Quincy QE-5 on CL for 175 dollars. I'd have to put a 110V motor...

    What's your favorite tape measure

Craftsman tapes...I'm a sheet metal worker and go through tapes like dirt through a nite-crawler, but I haven't had to buy a new tape in over 15 years. I keep a 33' X 1" blade and a 12' X 1/2" blade on my bench at work and a 25' and 12' in my box at home. Craftsman quality has degraded over the...
