Concrete - at what point is a crack NOT acceptable?

First of all that ***** man. I'm not taking anyones side here but I'd be pissed if this was my shop. I'm a concrete guy and slabs cost way to f'n much if you ask me! How long after the pour did you build on the pad? Does the crack go down roughly in the middle and out the doorway? Whats the...

    permanent truss strapping

I never even thought of just calling the supplier, I didn't get any info with the trusses and couldn't find squat on their website either. I called the truss company today and the engineer said I need bracing on the bottom cord 10' in from each side wall all the way down the center of the...

    permanent truss strapping

I built a 26x46 shop with residential common 4/12 pitch trusses. Does anyone know if there is specific pattern of permanent 1x4 strapping? I strapped the roof every 2' in rows for the roof tin. What I'm asking is does the webs and bottom cords need strapping? I read online that 45degree...

    26'x40' shop build

We have very sandy soil here where I live, so shifting & heaving and over all movement is very minimal, so my slab on grade (with thickened edge) is okay and was recomended by the engineer. However 10 miles to the west is the City of Regina, they have mucky duck $hit type subgrade, absolutely...

    26'x40' shop build

Yep, I wanted the room in attic trusses but the pitch would have been 8/12. My Town has a bylaw that states the roof pitch of any detached garage can't exceed the pitch of the principal building. My house has 4/12. It *****, but my hand were tied. Oh well, the trusses were $3800 cheaper. :D...

ways to divide up a large shop.

I guess I could split the back half of the shop up the middle making it into two 13'x20' areas. With maybe a sliding 10' wall at the front and a 10' permenant wall in the middle. This way I could have a welding fab area on one side and a wrenching shop on the other. Or slide the door open and...

ways to divide up a large shop.

I'm looking for advice, photos & ideas on how to divide up a shop for multiple uses. I am in the process of building a 26'x46' garage. You enter through two 10' doors in the 26' end. I need to come up with a idea so I can have a welding, drill press and grinding/fabbing table area where I can...
