For a home mechanic what brand of home auto mechanic’s tools would you recommend?

I have had the Tractor Supply set for several years and have gifted around 6 sets also. Yes there is **** filler but overall it's a nice kit when on sale BF or Christmas around a hunnerd bux.

Trico Wiper Blade Clearance: Advance Auto Parts

Picked up mine today. Cashier said Trico is going away but wasn't allowed to tell me the replacement brand. Still a smoking deal for a pair of 22" beam style blades at 22 bux and change!

Best drill bits available if money were no object.

My Norseman sets have served me well. Can you buy cheaper? Yes. Cheaper always break or dull quickly in my experience. We drill a lot of holes in my line of work and usually use mag drills and annular cutters. They are the apex predators of hole drilling!

    Home Depot deals/sales/clearance

HD's in east Tennessee have done away with clearance endcaps. Guess who is going to Lowe's back row from now on?

I just found a Craftsman Crown top cantilever box with the 2 top drawers covered. It is in decent shape with a new paint job needed. Do I need to be first in line at store opening tomorrow with my 30 dollars?

Best practices to prevent tool loss - FOD

I still have my 96 Formula Firebird HARDTOP with the LT1 "hopetospark" distributor. She's underpowered a lot by the new stuff but she'll burn rubber all the way thru 1st and a little ways in 2nd. Those pretty T-tops allow way too much body flex. And they all leak.

Tools that need to be quality

Dedicated single size pliers are the only way to go. I have found all interchangeable tips to ****.

Laser Level for forming a slab

The Bosch is a solid machine but there are many off-brands on Amazon with a dedicated receiver for your grade rod around a C-note. We like the Huepars.

Snap-on low profile spark plug socket

I still have and love it. It's a rare solid black hardtop so she launches very well without the t-top flex. She's also faster than the T/A's because she doesn't have all the underbody "aerodynamic" extra weight ****.

Snap-on low profile spark plug socket

My 96 formula firebird with last gen LT1 with the "Optispark" taught me many ways to cut down a sparkplug socket and use a wrench to get to the god$$$* 2 under the brake booster. No cool tools around back then.

Is diesel the best degreaser? and if the answer is no, why do you like being wrong?

When I worked in a Mopar dealers shop we would mix a handful of Tide washing powder with enough diesel to make a paste. Absolutely one of the best hand cleaners out there.
