Can I use Trex composite wood in building woodworkers bench?

Update: I can't believe I finally found someone else with the same vise. Their's doesn't have pads, and shows no mounting holes for any kind of jaw pad. Hmmm....

Can I use Trex composite wood in building woodworkers bench?

Shoot, I just realized that my vise isn't set up for bench dogs at all. I can retro fit it materials I have on hand, but it may require modifying the vise. I was hoping to keep the vise in original condition since it's an antique, and it's probably still possible to do so and add a dog hole...

Can I use Trex composite wood in building woodworkers bench?

After some research, I think I'm going to something like this: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?80244-Solid-core-door-work-bench-top&p=813897#post813897 But with a base like a standard Ruobo. I messaged the guy who made that bench to maybe get tips and suggestions on the joining of...

Can I use Trex composite wood in building woodworkers bench?

Those are good ideas. I have maybe 200bf of yellow pine, but it's mostly 2x4. I also have 10bf of this good looking pine, which I'm assuming is yellow pine, that is about 2-1/8" x 3-5/8", that I was going to put together with a regular 2x4 to make the legs out of. Is this from experience that...

Can I use Trex composite wood in building woodworkers bench?

Oh yeah, I forgot that I had a solid door in my garage also. It's a 80"x35.75"x1.75" door, but I'm not exactly sure of what it's made of... maybe MDF? My question still is out there about whether the Trex can be laminated with wood glue. I guess I have to make sacrifices since I don't have the...

Can I use Trex composite wood in building woodworkers bench?

I am once again unemployed and trying to make use of my time doing things I've been wanting to do and using up materials I've horded over the years. 4 years I was given 47 new pieces of Trex (in boxes marked as balusters). They are 1-3/8" x 1-3/8" x 30-3/8" each. I just abandoned the idea of...

    Vintage Craftsman drill press accessories

I just wanted to say that I've had a Craftsman 101.03582 for 3 years now. I bought it for around $70 and it ran decently, but like with all old things I acquire, I like to clean all the rust off, inspect every part, etc. Well, I became unemployed shortly afterwards, halfway through...

Can anyone identify this hand tool?

Cool. I didn't know you could do that. I have to sort all of my tools I got. I got a small bucket of like 50 taps and dies... mostly Greenfield. I just need to get some of the surface rust off so I could identify them. But back to my previous posts, does anyone know what that side groove is...

Can anyone identify this hand tool?

Here's another pic of that last center punch. Anybody know what that indentation/groove on the side is for? I'm not sure what the brand is, but I think it's PRB. I found a PRB tool maker in England on google, but I'm not sure. I could be that it's an old tool made by them. It might not even...

Can anyone identify this hand tool?

The next pictures show: Huot "Drill Index" 60 bit set from .040" to .228". I'm guessing for machinists. A nifty thread count gauge made by Handy, which will definitely come in handy (no pun intended) M R Co grinder bit (I think that's what they are called) new in the tube. I found the website...

Can anyone identify this hand tool?

Not sure if should make a new thread (please correct me as I'm new to this forum and posting in forums in general) but here's some of my other findings: Set of Nicholson files An awesome Anthony snap ring pliers Some random Starrett punches and stuff I don't know (many not pictured) 27/64 and...

Can anyone identify this hand tool?

Another question is whether I should sell it or not. It's a really need piece with fine craftsmanship, but I AM unemployed and do need the money. I don't work on wood projects much, nor do I drain fluids on people.

Can anyone identify this hand tool?

Wow. That was a pretty long search to figure what this was. I'll still put it in my special tools box as a "birdcage awl". LOL. Nobody needs to know that it's a pocket sized Trocar and Cannula Set.

Can anyone identify this hand tool?

Since it belonged to a machinist from the many decades ago, it might be a pocket center punch and hole punch set. You never know when you might need one of them. Plus when the top and bottom outer parts are together it has some pretty good heft to it.
