Well the drill press is complete, performed the half of the motor break in last night (let the motor run with no belt for an hour). Will finish the break in tonight which is with belt on and no load. Also have 3 screws to replace, however after the break in is finished it is ready to make some...

Made a little progress this weekend even though I was really busy... Ordered a Jacobs Chuck and two keys, should be here some time this week, Enco had it cheaper than anybody... Painted the top of the base, then got kinda nerdy with the lathe, figured out how to do something that has bothered...

    Mud dobbers like sunflower seeds?

Started getting paint on the belt guard and base, just picked it up from having it bead blasted (it wouldn't fit in my cabinet). Just sealing the bottom, it had alot of rust in there before bead blasting. Belt guard, still needs some more paint... Switch trim plate; love the old...

    Mud dobbers like sunflower seeds?

Bead blasted all the parts that I could fit in the cabinet, took 7 hours on Saturday. Started puting down paint Saturday night, Sunday, and finishing on Monday. Paint is Van Sickle Tractor paint (one of the best IMO) supposed to be Ford Tractor Grey Pre 1965. It seems to have a greenish hue...

Picked up a drill press from a friend sight unseen for 50 bucks, buddy said he put a new cord on it and it worked. Also mentioned he picked it up from an estate auction where the shop/garage burned. I show up to get it and find out its a floor model. I didn't think much of it, and honestly...

    A shop finaly, 34 x 36 !

Yeah I picked it up because it welded aluminum so well, however I also love the look (refrigerator with steering wheels). A friend of mine has a Syncrowave 250 and it hands down welds cleaner on 4130 (probably more modern pulse technology). That being said I'll probably keep it around until the...

    A shop finaly, 34 x 36 !

Thanks, Yes it is an old Hobart (1965 I think; still have the original manual) picked it up through some horse trading, It welds aluminum very nicely. If I get into Tig heavily I'll probably buy a newer unit. The beast is heavy, have had to use the cherry picker to load and unload it...

Found a killer deal on a used Ingersoll Rand Type 30 (3 phase)... Kind of opened up a can of worms though, because I want to build a 3 phase converter (15 - 20 hp) however I have a home built shop with hardly any amperage (thanks previous owner)... So now I am talking to the power company...

No it doesn't have any windows, but I do walk outside all the time and stare... My only gripe with the place is the the cieling height its only 10'5" which isn't terrible just not as tall as I would like. (Would have liked to put in a lift some day, but dont know if I will with the low...
