What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Beerhippie: You posts bring back memories from the good old days in western MT when we had these brands available: Oly Pop, Raneeeer Beeeer, Brand X, Highlander and Great Fall Shellac brewed by their original owners.

    More pop up ads

Dragged kicking and screaming from 7 to 11 and Firefox and Edge had many, many pop ups (but not on this site), Added an blocker extension to Firefox that quieted things down. But has another problem with this site and that is even though the "stay logged on" is checked in both, it didn't work...

    How tall is your workbench

Really depends on how tall you are OR length of your legs OR distance from floor to your elbows when your forearms are bent as if working on an item on the bench top.

    Red Iron door framing question

You could paint the wood on all sides with a quality outdoor oil based paint. Probably would then last longer than you.

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The Mary Kay Garage

That pic of the snow reminded me of a heavy snowfall in about 1953. I had a paper route and a WWII ammunition cart for the papers (C . Trib, Sun Times, Wall Street journal, Daily forward and on Thurs the Southtown Economist). Pushing the cart through all that snow at 6 AM wasn't a lot of fun.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT I bought the farm

some 5-6 years (or more) before my planned retirement date, I started making an extra $50 added to the loan payment schedule. Paid off the loan quicker and avoided some of the future interest payments. Most people don't realize that making an extra but relatively small payment on the loan...

Moving into metal building shop. The insulation is filthy but intact. Cleaning?

Mix up a small but heavy dose of Oxyclean in water. Spray on a test area. I used this to get rid of orange soda pop spill on blue carpet and a reddish wood stain on white carpet. Worked but took a number of applications and running a carpet cleaner to remove mix before next application.

Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT London Calling. An ordinary life.

To me the sad part of Steve's retirement is that his skill and knowledge is not being passed on to someone else. A loss for Londoners with older houses.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Mixed Grill - From London , England - GRIZZMAKES world

From my 80s Olds days the separate ignition and door/trunk keys was so one could put your valuable stuff in the trunk and keep that key while you gave the ignition key to the guy/gal who parks your car at a grand hotel or restaurant.

Mounting Battery to Clap Board Siding with No Sheathing or WRB

A better way is to discuss an on the ground pad with the AHJ rather than making an assumption that they would require an engineered pad. If they say need an engineered pad ask to see the code that requires one for a small pad.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Back on X-10. I also have old night lite things with a red christmas light with the pump X10 appliance module and on in the MB that I can check on/off. One is on the A circuit and one on the B circuit (the 2 120 legs). Never bother to get a coupler or repeater to address the 2 legs

2-Post Lift on Post Tension Slab - Permitting After the Fact

When on expansive clay or other soils, the PT slab "floats" over the soils when they move. Other reason is that no cracks will develop once tensioned. Stained or colored concrete or tile floors are common in AZ and I imagine elsewhere so later cracking is not desirable. In the garage of our...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

We also use X-10 to run the recirc pump as needed for about 19 years now. I timed how long it takes to get hot water to the kitchen, laundry and back bathroom so can turn it on for that period of time, then turn it off. Only problem is the occasional time when the signal doesn't get to the...

Mounting Battery to Clap Board Siding with No Sheathing or WRB

I would think that at 660 lbs it would be better to build a structure for them to sit on rather than hang them off the house wall. Also, could add cover to protect somewhat from the elements.

    What do you regret most?

Sold my 57 Chev convert in 1963 before my 5 day cruise to Germany on the good ship Buckner (or it might have been the Darby). Somebody should have told me it would become a classic.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

one problem is AZ if one has an atomic clock. I have to change from PST to MST or the reverse twice a year on mine. The signal uses DST.

    Garage with no exit door

Just for fun: We lived in a house in UT built in 1952. The garage door was wood (Crawford I think) and wide enought for 2 cars (1950s cars anyway). One night there was a very loud bang. Our bedroom was over the garage, and I had thoughts of someone shooting at us. Any way it was the door...
