i didn't hear a "click" to be honest -- and that was kind of strange. it just depressed a little bit. i was kind of expecting a breaker/relay kind of click sound when i hit it.

I have two covers, upper and lower. Took off the upper and pressed the reset switch and adjusted the dial 1/16th of an inch hotter , and did hear a registered change. will report back our findings.

I'd go ahead and do it. I may sound cocky but I've never actually heard of fake snap on wrenches... The guy was probably given them by a relative and needs your stuff more. Either that or he got them at a price point that he can afford to trade them Good luck!
