5th Annual Garage Journal Secret Santa - 2012 (Official Thread)

You're forgetting Holland (NL) ;) That's one of the reasons for me to participate. I get to sent some cool German made stuff (Hazet) over the pond and maybe get some cool old school brands from the States back. This is my first time, but I already checked with the post office. If I keep it...

    Socket Extensions: How Many?

Because of threads like these I hate the GJ. At most I own maybe 6 extensions, two sizes for each (1/4, 3/8, 1/2). They are easily stored next to the ratchets. Now I suddenly feel the need to buy more of them and create a possible storage problem.

In the market for a die grinder

Can't get no Mac over here. Asked my Snap on guy and the PT110A is on sale right now. Considering warranty and such I ordered it.

In the market for a die grinder

That's possible but this could become annoying after a while. 3M Roloc. This system has endless possibilities for grinding, deburring, sanding etc. Mostly sheet metal work I guess. I think this setup will fill the gap between an angle grinder and DA sander.

In the market for a die grinder

I've got a dealer in the area. Already ordered some small things trough him that he send me. Next time he is in the area with the truck he gives the heads up so I can meet him. So support is not a problem. Right now the are on sale he told me. I'm all about rebuilding and second chances so...

In the market for a die grinder

As the title said I want to buy an angled die grinder. I don't mind spending some money here since this is a tool that will be used a lot I think. After some research I found three options: Snap On PT110A - most expensive - variable speed Hazet 9032-5 - Hazet has good tools but I don't know...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Build a rack from left over wood for my new Hazet screwdriver set. And now I´m lacing my first ever wheel. Very cool to do

    Tools from the old world

Bought a 3/8 Hazet ratchet online for just 5 euro's (selector lever was broken). For another 10 euro's I bought the repair kit. After some fiddling with that spring and ball I now have I nice new ratchet! Dismantled Done

    Tools from the old world

From my own experience I can recommend these brands: Hammer: Gedore (Rotband, it is my most used hammer) Pliers: Knipex (started with one, now I have more and its the only brand I will buy for pliers) Wrenches: Stahlwille, Hazet, Bahco Ratchets: Hazet, Snap-on Screwdrivers: Wiha, Hazet...

    Tools from the old world

Bought a new set of screwdrivers for the home box and a torx set for the garage. Love the packaging! Also bought some misc items for the angle grinder. Used to buy the cheap no branded stuff, but the ones made here in the old World tend to last longer and do a better job!

    Show your new tool arrivals

Couple of weeks ago I was on holiday in the USA. I bought a set of the metric Hansen trays. Took em home in a big bag (not a suitcase). After a flight of nearly 5500 miles including a changeover in Philadelphia they were unharmed! So if they break you're most likely that ******* in the shop or...

    Most essential tool

Tough call. I would definitely try to roll out my vintage Hazet Assistent. Its packed with my most used tools. If it could be one item, it would be the hammer I inherited from my grandfather. That's one item I could never replace.
