What tools have you left behind........

I don't care what had him "screwed up". If a mechanic did something as irresponsible, negligent and dangerous as to leave a 24" pry bar in my engine, I'd be up his ***, his bosses ***, the press and whoever the state's licensing authority is. Don't risk my life and the life of my family and...

What tools have you left behind........

If you left a 24" pry bar under the hood of my car, and I found it, you bet I'd ***** AND keep it. That kind of sloppy work is totally unacceptable to me. Lumpy You were on CHiPs? Did you wear those **** tight pants and high boots like Erik Estrada? No. Swimtrunks. www.LumpyMusic.com

Broke my ratchet greasing it ..........

I've oiled my ratchets once in 40 years. Gun oil, air tool oil, break free, 3in1 or similar is what I use on any kind of small mechanism like that. Grease is for Ball joints on a truck. Sewing machines use sewing machine oil for a reason and they get thousands of times the wear and heat that our...

    Sears Corporate VS. Sears Franchise

I frequently find prices on Craftsman tools at Summit Racing that are lower than even Sears. Lumpy You were on Leave it to Beaver? No, I was on on CHiPs. That Beaver Lumpy was Frank Bank. www.LumpyMusic.com

So I decided to try some Kobalt tools...

I can see it now. Eleven guys rush to buy the expensive USA built tools. The other 973 gazillion tool buyers would be at the other store buying China made. A couple thousand would be polishing their Snap-Ons complaining about both of the other contingents. Lumpy You played on "The Love Boat"...

Adhesive Removal Spray? A really good working one?

I've used naptha for exactly that, weatherstripping. I've also used goop hand cleaner. Goop seems to be a little more "physical" than naptha. That is, it requires some scrubbing, but doesn't hurt any paint at all that I've ever seen. Naptha seems to dissolve nearly every adhesive, but doesn't...

Adhesive Removal Spray? A really good working one?

I'm not sure about a SPRAY, but Naptha on a rag takes off most any adhesive, safely. I've used it on very fine violin and guitar finishes with no damage to shellac, varnish, lacquer, wood, plastic, nickel, brass. Lumpy Linus Digs Lucy www.digitalcartography.com/LinLucy.mp3

Craftsman raised panel box wrench set initial review -PICS-

I've got RPs that have been in service for 30+ years. Some have been thrown into the bottom of tool boxes in vans and trucks that have driven all over the US and Mexico. I've also got a couple that were found on the asphalt, apparently fallen from a passing truck. And a couple found buried in...

    Air hose reels

There must be a secret to using the search in this forum that I haven't learned. There seems to be no boolean options. Search for Hose Reel returns everything hose and everything reel. Search for any one of those terms above and I get a gazillion hits, some might seem related. Others are things...

    Compressor on casters

I'm sure most of us don't really mount our compressors with 18" wall clearance as the manufacturers suggest. Mine is more like 8". But I can get to the belts and all with no problem. Cleaning is never a problem. Two seconds of 120 PSI blows any dirt, bug poop, oil cans and scorpions out from...

Are Nut Drivers a Favorite Tool? For What?

1/4, 5/16, 7/16, 10mm, 1/2 I have several of each. Easily a dozen 7/16 as that is the most used bolt head in my shop. Lumpy You played on "The Love Boat"? Yes. White tux, huge sideburns. www.LumpyMusic.com

Are Nut Drivers a Favorite Tool? For What?

Zerks. I forgot about zerks. 8mm for my applications. Using a nut driver makes it a one hand operation. On a really good day, if I hold my mouth right, I can do it one handed with a 1/4 drive ratchet. But the nut driver is just way too fast and simple. Lumpy Were you the voice of Casper? No...

    Mounting 80 Gal compressor

I guess I'm out voted. I still wouldn't do it, esp since it's above my head. I just have a thing about trusting someone else's work when using something in a design it's not made for. At least put some good nuts and bolts into the thing so you'll know you can trust that part of things. Lumpy...

    Mounting 80 Gal compressor

I would feel safer NOT trying to use the shipping pallet. Those odd sized pallets are designed to store the thing, then ship the thing - one time only. They're not designed to withstand years of heavy use, like those heavy blue pallets. They're assembled with the minimum amount of materials and...
