Autozone doesn't prorate battery warranty anymore?

Every warranty'd item I've ever bought at AutoZone is on file under my phone number on their system. Any of their stores can look it up. For that matter, non-warranty items are on file as well as I have their awards card thingie. They can look and see what weight motor oil I bought a year ago...

    After Cooler?

Air flow over the cooling element(s) is surely critical. Some vehicles use power steering fluid coolers that are nothing more than a loop of steel tubing about 24" total, under the bumper that may (or may not) have some air flow directed onto it from veh movement. Lumpy You were the...

Does anyone have proof (pics) of Chinese Craftsman rp wrenches?

I bought a single 18mm RP about 3 months ago. Every one of the loose RPs on the wall were USA. I warranty'd out a 35 y/o 1/2" ratchet a year ago because it was "sticky". Warranty'd instead of cleaning it. Replacement, and all the other ratchets on the wall were USA. Lumpy You were on CHiPs...

    Beginning to hate Craigslist!! arrggghhhh!

Some CL sellers are turds. No doubt about it. They don't delete when sold. They don't reply and say "Sorry, it sold". Some may not understand the process. They may think it's like eBay and will be taken off or expire. But it's not the fault of CL. It's just like a kiosk with 3x5 cards and flyers...

    Drill press cross slide

I have a different model Grizzly vise. Similar low quality China. I'm not impressed with the thing. Chunks of the casting fall off when the jaws are stressed. Paint comes off with normal wiping with a rag. Mine is the 90 deg tilt style. When tilting it from horizontal to vertical, part of the...

    The Self Repair Manifesto...

Along those lines...Yesterday I repaired my Dremel tool. The built in motor speed control selector was only allowing the lowest speed. Dismantled the tool. Almost suprised to find that it came apart easily and completely with just 4 T-15 torx. Was able to pull the elec connectors, stator...

    Beginning to hate Craigslist!! arrggghhhh!

Re: Beggining to hate Craigslist!!arrggghhhh! I clearly state in all my CL sales - "Contact me via email ONLY. No text, no phone calls". More than half the replies state "Can I have your phone number for directions?". One guy I replied to, I said "If I'm available, I'm available via email. I...

Seems like all of us know that guy who wants to educate you on air compressors

I don't know of any 60-80 gal tank compressors that will only supply 90 psi. Any I've seen will all supply 120-160. Regulate that down to 90-100 for your tools and you've got a motor that runs for a while then rests while the tank air powers the tool. A smaller tank is not "more effective"...

    I think it's worth it...

Re: I think its worth it... [zero clearance marker, pencil sawed in half lengthwise] Fretted instrument makers use them to mark bone nuts. Imagine a guitar or mandolin with it's fretted neck. You want to install a new bone nut at the top of the fretboard. Frets are perhaps 020-050 higher than...

    I think it's worth it...

Re: I think its worth it... You'd cut a bunch of templates and jigs out of masonite or 1/4 plywood. You'd use it to simply "cut a couple inches off that dowel" without setting up the table saw fence, sled, making a lot of sawdust etc. You'd cut very thin kerf stuff like drill press or router...

Seems like all of us know that guy who wants to educate you on air compressors

It's all kind of a moot point, isn't it? I don't think you can buy a 19CFM pump on a 5 gal tank, nor a 4CFM pump on a 60 gal tank. Simply buy a compressor rated at something above the heaviest load you expect to use. Lumpy Did you entertain the troops? Yes. Well, I'm pretty sure they were...

    HF dumped old employees?

"Managers" at a place like HF, or most any place the employs min wage grunts, are typically very young and not experienced in the least at managing people. The corp wants them to be a blank slate and simply act as a go-between between the corp policy and the line level employees. They aren't...

Re: Beggining to hate Craigslist!!arrggghhhh! +1.
