I picked up a Columbian 4 1/2 post vise earlier this summer and was going to use it as my shop vise attached to a steel bench. But I'm reconsidering and thinking that a 5 to 6 inch bench vise would work better for me in the shop. What I'm planning now is to get a 2' x 8' or so log and bury it...

I have a Wilton 835 with an ear missing on the swivel base. Are replacement bases available? Also is there a proper gray paint for early Wiltons? Thanks Nuts

None of the other plates have holes for the raised bolts, and of the two that do, the holes are in different locations. Sounds vise(excuse me, vice) specific to me. Nuts

Drives, I have bad knees and shoulders, replaced the right knee a couple of years ago. Which is bad enough, but have recently been diagnosed with fibromylgia, had it since I was a kid, didn't know that everyone else didn't ache like I do. I'll read that thread and do some research. Thanks
