LocTite Blue or Nylon Lock Nut?

I repaired my power lock actuator on my Grand Marquis with a stainless bolt and nylon locknut. It was held on by a U-bracket that had one rivet pinning it too the door. The rivet broke and the actuator was just rattling around when the power locks were used. The power locks get activated...

    Wilton 9300N Project and Questions

OK, so for my trip to ACE I found this for pins: I didn't pick any out since I don't have references or measurements yet. I bought four stainless allen bolts for the jaws. They didn't have the same length as my original so I went with 1/4 -20 x 3/4 which are a little longer than my extracted...

No, as far as I can tell the spindle and the collar are keyed somehow. Maybe if I pop the wheel bearing cap off I could see something.

How long should the pins be? Should they go through the body and the collar, or the body, collar and the spindle nut but not past the threaded inside of the spindle nut?

    Wilton 9300N Project and Questions

I'm going to ACE tonight with to find the carriage bolt and new jaw bolts. I would like to get allen key bolts instead of a phillips head which are designed to limit the torque. I will look at their pins and see what they got. I believe that the factory pin has a splined knurl that presses...

Should I mention that if I do get it welded? For now I think I will try it as-is, as long as it's not rattling about it should be fine.

    Wilton 9300N Project and Questions

JEEP, thanks for the info on the bases. I was repeating what the seller told me but it's good to know the correct model. I have the bolt with me today so that I can try to match it up at the hardware store. I think the lock handles are bent on the swivel because the headless bolt was doing...

I managed to get one side of the brass jaws off. I broke an easy out during the process. Is Wilton Vise Parts the place to get jaws?

    Wilton 9300N Project and Questions

Yeah, maybe I'll take it to a machine shop and see if I can get it mig welded for $20. It's hard to weld steel that thick with the typical garage welder. I'll have to see if I can score a carriage bolt from ACE. It looks to be pretty course thread.

    Northern Tool Klutch Hand Tools

I go to the Northern Tool in Milwaukee. They have a lot of industrial/commercial stuff that I can't find elsewhere. I can't say their made in China hand tools are much better or worse than Menards/Home Depot/Fleet Farm/Tractor Supply etc.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Rock Island Illinois was and is a big metal forging and machining area. It was big during World War II and they are still making military munitions. I'm not sure exactly which company the vises were made by but I'm sure it was on Rock Island. Perhaps check out the history of Rock Island Arsenal.

    Wilton 9300N Project and Questions

Greetings forum, long time lurker first time poster! I was up in Eau Claire Wisconsin for the 4th of July and I found a Wilton 9300S (S swivel base, not N) on Craigslist. Well, it has a few issues but I ended up buying it. This is my first Wilton so it's pretty neat. I intend to restore this...
