Help me ID this air compressor

Wow you guys are more bargain hunters than I am. I know it's not exactly the same thing since this one is probably 55 years old but a comparable two stage 5 hp compressor from champion new is over $2000. I'm still going to go ahead with my plan of calling champion to make sure I can get parts...

Help me ID this air compressor

bad idea: I think that's a good idea. That is a scary thought indeed. I'll definitely look into getting the tank tested. My wife is a vet and says she might be able to get her hands on a scope to allow me to look inside the tank. But that will require bringing tools down there and taking a...

Help me ID this air compressor

I'll call the champion company tomorrow and give them the serial numbers to confirm it's one of theirs and if I can get parts for it if needed. Is there a way to check the integrity of the inside of the tank and check it for rust, I mean aside from just pressure testing it? If needed, how much...

Help me ID this air compressor

Dang that's the truth. So I went back with a buddy of mine that knows a lot more about these things than I do. I noticed a plate welded to the back of the tank with some stuff stamped on it and noticed a manufacture date of 1966. My buddy thinks the compressor and motor might be original but...

Help me ID this air compressor

Ok so the guy couldn't tell me anything about it. He didn't even know the manufacturer of it but I looked at it again and am sure it says champion. He said a friend of his says it's 'a good one and a hard to find two cylinder'. It is a 220 and there's no way for him to hook it up to show me it...

Sorta looks like the first one but it doesn't have that cylindrical thing on the very top. I'm betting that's the air filter. Maybe this one is a previous generation or something.

Help me ID this air compressor

I stopped by an antique store this morning at about 930 only to find out they open at 10. On the way back to the car this compressor caught my eye. It's been painted, ID tag and all so it's hard to make it out. I could just barely read the word 'champion' on the label under the paint and the...

    I'm doing it:30x48 pole garage

I was thinking about the one big door idea and I don't think it would work seeing as how the garage will be post built. The posts will be 12 feet apart so a 10' door is about as big as I can go.

    opinion on lift placement

It's a pole building with the poles 12' on center so there isn't a lot of room to move the doors. Right now they're going to be centered between the posts but I can probably have them moved left or right about a foot. I don't do any body work so that's not a concern. Do many people flip their...

    opinion on lift placement

Ok now scaldeddog has me thinking about how big a pain it will be to have to constantly be walking around a lift whether there's a car on it or not. It might be better to have it in the first bay after all then as long as I leave enough room on the left side by the wall to do work.

    I'm doing it:30x48 pole garage

One big door huh? How big? Does that come out cheaper? And I was thinking a coat of epoxy will smooth out a little roughness. No?

    opinion on lift placement

My garage is going to be started next week and even though I don't have a lift currently in my budget I plan on getting one in a few years. I want to take the extra precaution now of making the concrete a little thicker in the areas where the two posts of the lift will be. I've worked in...

    I'm doing it:30x48 pole garage

Is the plastic liner white? I believe that's the stuff they used when they built my wife's barn a few years back. I'm pretty sure they'll use that on my garage as well. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check out your pictures.

    I'm doing it:30x48 pole garage

I'm going to give my builder the go ahead to start my garage. He wants to get started on it ASAP but I'm going to have him start just after labor day because I'll be out of town and want to be there during the construction. I want to make sure this goes perfect and there aren't any shoulda...

how do you know the local codes?

Went down there today and they directed me to a website that they go off of for the codes. I also got the numbers and office hours for the inspectors although I'm sure it will be very difficult to actually talk to one of them(only two for the county). Also found out I don't need a licensed...

how do you know the local codes?

Thanks everyone. A few years ago I would have been too intimidated to attempt this but after paying someone to build a pole barn for my wife's horses I realized how simple these structures are. I am going with metal siding and roofing and right now I'm planning on hiring out the concrete work...

how do you know the local codes?

I'm planning out a pole barn garage and am doing the necessary research to make the decision of whether or not I want to attempt to do it myself. If I'm going to do it myself I plan on getting a permit and building it right but I'm a little worried about being able to build it to code. Is...
