Help me pick a 2-post lift.

Couple pieces of advice: 1. You are likely to use it more than you think. A lift has other useds - like a quick way to set up two tables in your garage... 2. Whatever you get, make sure it is certified and has single side release. A couple friends saved a few bucks and it is not worth it...

    2 post lifts,info,opinions,etc...

Trust me, your road trip will cost you more than LTL Freight to your local Terminal. Not only that, but many companies must also charge you TAX when you pick it up - - tax on your gas - tax on your tolls - tax on the product = more dinero than supporting the truck drivers...

Any interest in a RapidReel group buy?

Yeah, the tires were thrown in the box before taping it - All in Illinois. Oh yeah, then they slap the "Made in USA" Flag on the box...

help with footings for lift, concrete advise DIY.

Who advised you to cut up your floor? Personally it looks to me like that was a mistake? You may have had issue with your stress reliefs, not sure but you may have been able to work around that, depeneding on your plate and the hole spacing... Whip and other lift mfrs recommend a 4' x 4'...

TD Insurance cancelled my policy because I have a lift!?

Thanks for posting that about State Farm. Started out with SF (grew up with it) switched over to Erie after buying a house, got married and they royally screwed me on something... Left them, shopped around and went back to SF. Lately I have been shopping Progressive and another company on...

    Soldering Gun or Iron

I will have to say that this is actually a good tool to have in the box. I bought one when I was doing integration work for a sea trial when I was an active EE... Bought one because there was not outlets near where we were working and had to do some rework on the fly and figured it might...

    Soldering Gun or Iron

A good Weller Soldering Station. Seriously, they are the best, you can change tips, they stay hot and ready, have the place for the wet sponge and heat wire and flow solder really well. Guns, plug in pencils - junk. I'm a EE with many years of wiring off and on, and speak from a reasonable...

Desert Car Kings - Larry the idiot - paints with a dust mask...

In case you did not hear - American Chopper has been cancelled... From what I remember it was announced around Sept. 2010. SO, the recent "new" episodes of Sr vs Jr are the last. Now back to the regularly scheduled program of idiots - Desert Car Kings... SO, I just saw the Studebaker. Paint...

Desert Car Kings - Larry the idiot - paints with a dust mask...

Still laughing at the show here - they just had a shot of the roof with the flourescents reflection - Even on TV you could see the dirt and imperfections in the paint on a horizontal surface. I think a 10 year old could shoot better than that.

Desert Car Kings - Larry the idiot - paints with a dust mask...

I just happened to throw on a new show - Deser Car Kings... They are doing a Tbird. Casually watchning, then saw them in the spray booth... OMFG - Larry the bodyman - is shooting the car with just a dust mask in the booth... fumes everywhere - looked like they were not even using HVLP fumes...

Drilling into concrete - 3/4 hole - basic hammer drill enough

Lift is installed, assembled and operational. Ended up using the HF hammer drill - worked better than the dewalt, and I did not need to change bits. Used a vacuum cleaner held close when drilling to **** out the dust.

    Drywalling with 48"oc trusses?

I did not open the specs but if the above is right - I would have never accepted that design... I think I have over 100' per square foot with shingles on mine with drywall below as my spec. I have a 20 ' width loft with 8' headroom on a span of 30' on mine. 24" spacing Drywall is very...

    Problem with MaxJax anchor install

Assuming I read the above properly... I would suggest considering cutting it, and then accurately use a hammer type center punch and a good metal bit with lubrication and drill the sucker out using small bits at first, and getting larger until the wall thickness is pretty thin and it might come...

Drilling into concrete - 3/4 hole - basic hammer drill enough

Thanks a mil for all the replies - and an update... Thanks to everyone for the replies, they were all great. In all honesty, in checking in, I figured a couple people would have replied, but 17 total. Nice. So I went out and confirmed, I do have the Irwin SDS bits. I had bought 3/8" and...

Drilling into concrete - 3/4 hole - basic hammer drill enough

Yeah, I know... right... just hate to waste the bit on a test hole, or put a hole in without the lift in position, and hate to have the lift in position and then find out it does not drill and have to run out to rent a drill...

Installing a lift on sloped concrete?

SOOOO, if my concrete seems to be say within 3/8 level on an 11' span, it is good do go and don't need to consider a shim plate for one of the posts? It appears really close to true level (bubble is in the middle of the level, but is slightly to the one side)

Drilling into concrete - 3/4 hole - basic hammer drill enough

OK, so I'll probably do a test hole somewhere, but want to see if I can get some feedback from guys that have installed their own lift... - I have two brand new 3/4 Irwin masonry drill bits - IRWIN 322048 SDS-Plus 3/4" x 10" x 12" hammer drill bit - I also have a 1/2 " electrick DeWalt...
