    Welder advice

Only #10 ? I thought 50amps required #6 wire. I plan on running EMT/wire to its 'home' simply so I don't have to unroll/roll up the cord every time. This will be a short term solution.

Tapatalk is working now. So this is not ok for the cord?

It seems I got more than I expected with the included cord. He told me it was about 50'. I stretched it out and it's closer to 90'. I wired it directly into my breaker panel and it will reach all the way to the opposite corner of the carport on the front of shop. I was going to post...

Thanks. I may have questions later. Don't want to piss everyone off by only posting a question with no follow up, lol. That always bugs me on other forums and FB groups. I, along with others, will answer a question and/or give advice, then we never know how it turned out because that guy...

    Welder advice

I'm outside city limits and my county has no code enforcement/rules. A 50amp breaker is only $16 at Lowe's, so I'll probably just install a 2nd breaker if I actually install a 2nd plug. After thinking about it, it would probably be difficult to get two 6g wires into each breaker slot anyway...

Some of the posts were a little off topic and it seems that there is some "history" between some of the posters. In general, I value all of the responses since they either educated me or reaffirmed something I already knew. I appreciate all of the responses and TBH, I didn't expect to...

I've been told that I should be able to weld aluminum with a low amperage DC weld. I don't really have any plans to weld aluminum, but is that correct?

    Welder advice

Well we will see how I like it since I picked it up earlier. He even threw in a ~50' cord with a plug on the end. My shop is 40x60 with the breaker panel in the middle of a 60' side. I should be able to weld just about every where inside.

    Welder advice

Would this be a decent welder for limited use for a beginner? The only welder I have ever used is the AC only version of this welder. I found this one for $300. New, they are around $550. Is this a decent welder for that price?

Max Usable Distance for MHF Wire

Lowe's has MHF, but I only looked for 4/0 as that's what I needed. Most MHs have more than 90 amp service so you may have a time trying to find it in smaller sizes.
