    Ratchet or Wrench Preference?

I just have a weird love of ratchets and sockets so I always end up using those if I can. Wrenches are my back up and then ratcheting wrenches last.

Looking for suggestions on a cordless impact.

I have the Ridgid Gen 5x cordless impact (450 ft ibs) and I so far I really like it. I actually sold my Milwaukee impact (rated at the same 450 ft ibs) and went with Ridgid. One of the cool features is that it has a setting that automatically stops tightening when the impact begins to hammer so...

    New Ridgid OCTANE Impact Wrench

That's what's confusing to me. The old Gen 5x is rated at 450 ft ibs (it doesn't say anything about fastening vs. breakaway torque) and the new one is divided up between fastening (485 ft ibs) and breakaway torque (620 ft ibs).

    New Ridgid OCTANE Impact Wrench

Does anyone have experience with the new Ridgid OCTANE Cordless Impact Wrench? I bought the Gen 5x last year with 450 ft ibs and have liked it but this new one has "485 ft ibs of forward torque" and "620 ft ibs of reverse torque." Replace Craftsman Pro screwdriver set with???

I actually converted from Wera to Wiha and I love them. Very comfortable in the hand and I felt like the Wera tips tended to wear out. The old SK blue handled (French made) drivers are great too!

OBDii Code Readers for the Backyard Mechanic recommendation??

I really like my Autel. The interface is clearly not designed by Apple but it pulls all of the codes for almost every single make and model and gives you a TON of data for relatively little money. I got the Maxilink ML629 and like it a lot! I believe I paid a little more than a hundred bucks for...

    Battery Powered Impact

I have the Ridgid 1/2" impact and love it. I agree that it won't do everything but it does most things extremely well. If you're looking for total power, Milwaukee high torque and HF Earthquake is the way to go. But for 99% of my DIY uses, Ridgid is perfect.
