Yes that is a good point Yankee, if you hold the down lever too long it will slack up some like that, so soon as it locks stop, see if there is a sag, before you try to tighten up cable.

That is not proper cable set up! I had a Direct lift and installed it myself, yours should be similar as mine. At the end of the cable isn't there a large nut where it is attached? Tighten it up. There should be NO sag.

I grease mine to to keep the creaking sound away when parking in tight spots.

I had a similar situation, only my driveway had clay mixed into it and turned out slimly and slippery. I ended up using concrete to solve the mess. Yes it was expensive compared to dirt rock mix.

See nothing on Marketplace, this box is only 20 min away and others I have seen did not look as good and were hours away.

Many years ago I also had a Fisher and what an amazing stove. Sometimes you can see them on line used. They were literally built like a tank and very simple to operate. I am actually looking for a free standing one to put in my shop.
