yeah, she wants a place to hang a porch swing out in the yard, so yeah, good idea, just wish she woulda said something before I had the facia board already attached. right now the shed is only about 3.5/12 pitch, the porch part will only be about 2/12, but only stick out about 6 foot.

I did screw up setting the center posts on the ends tho. I set them offcentered to the front, that way I could attach the ridge pole to the back side of the posts. well it all worked fine, but when cutting the rafters I discovered my math was off, the roof it 1 inch longer in front than in...

I knew that would come up......:D but no, not really. in all actuality, I should be worried about it, on paper, but 1, 12 foot trusses are way overpriced 2, I keep going back to a room addition my grandpa did many many years back. 16 by 16 room, 1 by 6 ridge pole, and 2 by 4 rafters, 4/12...

this stuff isn't T1-11, it's a hardboard type stuff, T1-11 is notorious for doing exactly what you are saying. As far as the Z strip, I am not using it (couldn't find it at Menards), so I will be be covering the joints where gable meets the walls with 1by4's, as well as the corners of the...

    How would you handle this?

2 rows of block, I come up with what 84 block per course? so at $5 per block (block, plus morter, plus labor) so I come up with $840. add in the extra fill, and most likely extra labor to excavate deeper, I honestly don't see where he's screwing ya. Yeah it ***** to have to pay more than you...

    yard barn

Since I can't afford to build my new garage this year, or most likely by next year either, I am building a bigger shed in the yard to hold the lawn mowers, garden tools, etc. 12 by 16, but building it polebarn style. doing that for a few reasons, mainly cost. Also, I will not be putting a...

A buddy of mine bought one of the prebent steel framed carport kits, I think 16 by 20. he bought some extra polebarn metal and completely enclosed it, and put in an overhead door on one end and a 36 inch entry door on the other end. Not counting the cement floor, I think he said he only has...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? I walked out, looked at the stack of trim I painted a couple days ago for my bathroom, thought about getting started installing it, then thought better of it. I did sweep up a pile of cigarette butts gathering by the overhead door.
