I dug through a box of rusty sockets at a garage sale on saturday and came up with these. If I am not mistaken, these are some of the first marked SO sockets from the 1920s (photos 1 & 2). I found a couple of other oldies at the same sale but I haven't identified the logos yet (photos 3-5)...

Seller confirmed a threaded hole in the center. He also weighed the vice at about 40lbs. I already mentioned the $1/pound guideline to which I like to adhere so maybe he will take less now.

Thanks. I am checking on the threaded hole. I agree that the asking price is a bit high but i have never really run across a vice with no machined surfaces on the exterior.

you don't need to spend anywhere near that money for slides. You can use "file drawer" slides from many cabinet hardware companies. The ones I use are conservatively rated for 150lbs per pair. You could also double them up if your drawer is tall enough. Check out slide manufaturers such as...
