    it's garage sale season!!

A lack of self-control Just when I thought the season was about over, I stumbled upon a couple of good sales this weekend. This needs to end soon as I am officially broke now and running out of room! The best sale was advertised simply as a garage sale with tools. It turned out to be the...

Found my oldest Snap-on to date

I dug through a box of rusty sockets at a garage sale on saturday and came up with these. If I am not mistaken, these are some of the first marked SO sockets from the 1920s (photos 1 & 2). I found a couple of other oldies at the same sale but I haven't identified the logos yet (photos 3-5)...

    Vintage Holland vise help please

Seller confirmed a threaded hole in the center. He also weighed the vice at about 40lbs. I already mentioned the $1/pound guideline to which I like to adhere so maybe he will take less now.

    Vintage Holland vise help please

Thanks. I am checking on the threaded hole. I agree that the asking price is a bit high but i have never really run across a vice with no machined surfaces on the exterior.

    Vintage Holland vise help please

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I myself am debating taking a 1/2 hour drive to look at this odd vice. The seller says is is stamped only with "Holland, Erie PA". There are also some logos visible on the dynamic jaw. He measured to jaws at 4 1/2". The slide actually looks to be...

heavy duty drawer build or buy?

you don't need to spend anywhere near that money for slides. You can use "file drawer" slides from many cabinet hardware companies. The ones I use are conservatively rated for 150lbs per pair. You could also double them up if your drawer is tall enough. Check out slide manufaturers such as...

    it's garage sale season!!

First of all, Congrats on your finds this weekend! The nozzle remover is interesting and just like you described. It has a very thin walled inner socket that slides up and down within the outer socket. I just found a similar tool to the Plomb 6507 thanks to you and Outlawmws...

    it's garage sale season!!

Re: Some interesting finds.....more details I think you are on the right track! I added the words "valve & guide" to my search and found an Indestro 2021-V8 Valve Guide Punch pictured on AA that looks very similar. Thanks!

    it's garage sale season!!

Re: Some interesting finds.....more details Thanks OutlawMWS. I don't see any signs of twisting on the SO breaker bar and it sounds like Fortson has the same one. I will give the Masterrench a try and maybe add it to my mobile kit.

    it's garage sale season!!

Some interesting finds.....more details 1. The drive on the end of this SO breaker bar is set at 45 degrees to the handle. First time I have ever seen that in any brand. 2. Is this a Snap-on letter opener? (S-9583) 3. What is this Plomb 6507 used for? It reminds me a Mason's tool for...

    it's garage sale season!!

Some interesting finds.....the details What do you think of this CM stuff? 1 & 2. First off is a double offset box wrench (15/16" & 1"). It has no letter code and no part number. 3 & 4. The stubby phillips must be fairly old as well showing no part number either. Can anybody date...
